On the one hand still too many - break in the new guy replacing recently-retired colleague (who took her last week at school free, pretending to be ill but still capable of throwing a big farewell party at her house) is not something I'm looking forward to do in the last three weeks of my time as a school slave. Men always think they know everything (better), especially middle-aged ones as new guy is said to be. Let's hope he'll surprise me in a positive manner.

On the other hand three-and-a-half weeks aren't that much time if I consider everything I'll have to get done. I've already worked on cleaning the only cupboard I have at school, but the amount of stuff you manage to gather in 24 years is incredible! I still don't know where to put the about ten per cent I'm going to keep - I've completely run out of storage space at home already.

Three more days without gas. I can only hope that they won't refuse to reattach us for some imaginary failings. *fingers crossed* Not being able to cook anything but instant coffee and instant soup is tedious.

It's really bad at school. Teachers are so poorly paid in this country and loaded with so much useless paperwork that men generally won't work as teachers. When one happens to show up, they are, as a rule, the completely useless kind. But miracles aren't completely nonexistent, so we'll see.

Before you know it, you'll be down to counting the days off on one hand! Hooray!

Good luck with the cupboard emptying. Ugh. Donate anything usable to the charity bin - is that a possibility, so you don't have to find a place for it at home?

Good heavens, they'd better not delay reattaching your gas.

Your word in God's ear! I'm seriously maddened by the lack of decent coffee!

I'm a Brit. so instant coffee is standard for me, but I can imagine it doesn't taste good if you're used to the real stuff on a regular basis. Instant soup is truly awful, however. I don't know how I survived before I got my slow cooker/crockpot.

Instant coffee is the work of the devil. Yesssss, Precioussss, it is. Espresso twice a day - preferably the home-made version - is the way of survival here.

Some kinds of instant soup aren't so bad, though. I always buy the Austrian brand in the Aldi supermarket (under normal circumstances for ungodly long days at work when I wouldn't have anything warm to eat otherwise), and while they aren't exactly gourmet food, they are edible.
