Yesss! I've crossed the magical one-month-border! YAY!

Erm, yes. Going to work was hard, after 9 days of autumn break, even if said break was a bit turbulent. It promises to be an equally turbulent November, what with no cooking possibilities for the next 5 days, several doctor's appointments for Mum, moving the rest of my stuff home and [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo running in the background.

Nonetheless, I've finished the heart petal favour boxes for my colleagues' naming days:

I might upload a better picture later, just wanted to share in a hurry.

I also wrote a page or so of that "rewrite later, just press on" kind of stuff, so I'm fairly content.

Yay to making it to one month only!

I had my father visiting for a week, he left yesterday, so I've been pretty busy and got loads of tasks to catch up on now. Checking out Pico is definitely gonna be one of them.

The boxes are very cute!

Say, do you have experience working with a rotary cutter? I bought one for sewing purposes, but didn't get to use it yet since I was loathe to invest in a cutting mat (in the end I gave in and ordered one, buying a new table would cost more). I wonder if it's hard to work with one.

I'm sorry to say that I haven't worked with a rotary cutter yet. I'm clumsy enough with a simple slicer, so I don't dare to venture onto even more dangerous waters.

Your gift package has just arrived, BTW. Thank you so much! I particularly like the clockface and the white tree pendants. And I think I already know who's going to get a beach party card later. :))

I'm glad you enjoyed them!

Ah well, it's worth a try. I'll tell you how it goes with the cutter.

I have news already!

The cutter (I invested in the brand one from Prym/Olfa) works very well. It cuts extremely nicely on thinner fabric, also in several layers - most I tried was 4 layers. Then I chopped up old panty girdles, with double-layered elastics fabric, which went just as well, just like the thick elastics waistband.

I have the 45mm cutter since I'm planning to use it for cutting large swaths of fabric. For curvy and delicate work I might eventually invest in the smaller cutter - 23mm? -- and if you ever decide to try one, definitely go for that one for crafts. Also, yeah, you absolutely need the mat, no kidding. That thing is a real murder weapon.

It seems really handy! Perhaps I ought to get me a small one for the felt ornaments, eh? Then I can sacrifice one of my cutting mats for its solitary use.

If you already have a cutting mat I'd definitely look into it! The cutter only cost me 12 euro, what made it expensive was the mat (after weeks of searching, I finally found one for 26)

Thanks. There were fairly easy to make, for a change. Or they would have been, weren't I born incapable of cutting and gluing on things straight. ;)

Thank you. I must admit, I worked with a free template so it wasn't terribly difficult to make them.

Thank you. The best thing is: these boxes are actually easy to make, which is rare.
