... and when we think it can't be any worse, we learn that yes, it can. It seems that we'll have to start the new statistical system (elektronisches Klassenbuch for the ones who speak German) a month earlier. Joy, joy, joy. Of course, Boss Woman explained that it would be for our own good, and perhaps it is true. The problem is, nobody really believes that anything under her rule would be truly for our own good.

Ah, well, since I'm doing the same nothing every sodding afternoon, it won't be too complicated to copy and paste the same exactly 4 sentences from one e-class book to the other one. Being a rightless slave does have its advantages sometimes. And I'm leaving in two and a half months' time, so there.

On a more cheerful note, I made some headway with both the Christmas-themed pocket letter and the needle books. I hope I'll finish everything just in time. And tonight: Red Velvet Cake! *fingers crossed*

Good luck for the cake.
I'll make an apple cake/pie tomorrow - we've got so many apples from our garden, so it will be apple for the next few weeks (months)!

I know the feeling! We get lots of apples at school - this is some sort of fruit programme or whatnot - and the kiddies never eat it all, so we can take home the rest. Mum's been cooking apple soup in one go for the last two weeks or so. Fortunately, we both love apples, but her teeth can't deal with them raw, so it's cooked or baked.

The cake is in the oven right now, I hope it will turn out well. Never made this one before.

Thanks. The cake does look promising - I had to take two turns with the baking as I don't have two identical baking tins, so it took quite some time. Tomorrow I'll make the filling and try to give it an acceptable shape, and then there'll be pictures.

I've made many a Red Velvet Cake, especially when we were doing The Red Velvet Cake Wars at the theatre. Every night, they needed cake and I was doing props... sigh...

Jesus, that sounds like slave labour! I don't think I'll give it another try, though. It does look gorgeous, but it is too heavy for my taste. Next time I'll just make a sponge cake and colour it red. *g*

Not really. I knew about it going into the show, plus it was on the weekends and I could make one cake last for the four performances. It's basically just a devil's food cake with red food coloring in it.

It can backfore though, at another office morning tea (for someone leaving on maternity leave) someone made pastel cupcakes each topped with an amazingly realistic sugar baby... and hardly anyone could eat them.
