... and my tolerance levels are dangerously low. If not my sewing that helps me ignore the worst, I might have gotten into an ugly (verbal) fight with a colleague today. She is the kind of person who loves nothing more than hearing her own voice and didn't shut up for the two hours we spent on the school yard, watching over the children. She does the same in the staff room, where the others try preparing themselves for their lessons or correcting student works - small wonder no-one can stand her. Bleh.
I made some modest headway with my needle books; these are small, boring, time-consuming details I'm working on right now. Had to redo a good part because aforementioned nervy colleague broke my concentration. I was not happy. Worked a bit on my Christmas-themed pocket letter before going to school: cutting out shapes and decorating them a bit. It's slowly taking shape.
German TV decided, in its infinite wisdom, that there's no need to repeat the semi-documentary I watched every morning anymore. They show it in the afternoon, at 4 o'clock, as a rule - a time I'm never at home. Until now they repeated it at 10 in the morning; it still stands so in the printed programme, and it was actually on on Monday. I hate when they're doing this; there's hardly anything I'd still want to watch - certainly nothing around eight - and I need at least something to keep my German alive. Dubbed American movies or series don't count; they don't give me the actually spoken language.
Ah, well, it can't be helped. I'll practice my English instead by watching DVDs.

Date: 2018-09-19 05:19 pm (UTC)I hate some German TV stations with a passion - they keep changing the schedule from one week to the other and it's NEVER in the magazines. Ugh!

Date: 2018-09-19 05:26 pm (UTC)Sat1 is one of those perpetrators, and so is RTL2. The programme I was talking about is Klinik am Südring - not a big loss, actually, but one of those that come with all the background noise and sometimes different accents that I'd like to keep an ear for. Dubbed stuff is just too sterile. The best ones were those court shows, Richterin Barbara Salesh and her ink; all possible dialects came and made understanding a real challenge. Now I'm left with Zuhause im Glück, but there are no new parts to it and I saw all the old ones at least twice.
