... and I'm royally pissed. A small circle of colleagues and I have organized my birthday party for October 13, which is a working Saturday, since everyone had to be at school anyway. That was supposed to be our autumn festival, on which we usually organize sports and craft programs for the kiddies, so that we wouldn't have to actually teach on a Saturday. Lots of parents come each year, we show the kids how to recycle stuff to make them more environmental conscious, there is usually the chance to spend blood and such things.

Now it turns out that our exalted leader forgot while making the yearly program that this is a Saturday when everyone has to work, as October 23 is a national holiday and is attached to the weekend to make the latter really long. We work on the 13rd instead of the 22nd. Therefore the parents can't come to our autumn festival because they have to work, and without parents it just isn't doable.

So Boss Woman cancelled the festival. Instead, the classes are to make some sort of trip on that day. Which means that it is rather uncertain when they would come back, and I'll have to work on the afternoon. Birthday tanked.

Currently, we are trying to find an alternate solution, but it isn't easy at such a short notice. I'm really, really depressed about the whole thing.

Oh no, that's awful. I'm so sorry, what a mess. I hope there will be some solution still (though knowing your boss, I'm not too hopeful) Just think that you will soon be done with this place!

Well, we could hold the party on a non-working Saturday, but seeing how many weekends are botched, I'm not sure the others would be willing. And I work until at least 16.30 every workday, while the others work in the opposite shift.

Yeah, that wouldn't work :( And if it's only going to be a few colleagues you're close to showing up you might as well do it at home instead of going to school on a non-working Saturday. Ugh, this sucks.

Yeah, not the only thing that stinks here, but we're trying to go around the problem right now.

We're about to find an alternate solution, so everything isn't lost just yet. It's just so annoying, we have done this each year after the autumn festival, it is sort of tradition by now.

Welcome back, by the way! I'm always glad to get a life sign from you.
