First week over

And it was a godawful last day, too. We had nonstop meetings from 8 o'clock to 12.45; well, we had one stop around 9.30, but that was abysmally short. The fact that we didn't hear anything of real importance in all those endless hours wasn't really surprising; it is mostly like that with our meetings. At least I managed to seam the clasps of 10 mini sewing kits during all the desperate boredom.
Afterwards our lunch group, with slightly different participants, went to the little eatery again. Lunch was delicious and we enjoyed the last chance to be together peacefully. Starting with Monday I'll be working in the opposite shift with everyone again. I keep remember myself that it's only for another 3 months.
One of my colleagues approached me today with the request to go with her and her 8th-term class to Vienna around the end of the school year (she forgot that I won't be there any longer by that time), as her class - a somewhat problematic one - has apparently taken a liking to me. I said I'd gladly do so. I love Vienna, and we'd be 3 adults for about 15 or so teenagers, so it should be possible. For someone who was supposedly such a rubbish teacher (according to Boss Woman), it is a bit of a satisfaction that such a problematic class would like me and ask me to join them on their very last trip together.

Date: 2018-08-31 06:54 pm (UTC)When I worked retail we started breaking down how much time we had left into "enjoyable" measurements so 2 hrs was One Art Movie or 1 hr was One X-Files With Commercials.

Date: 2018-09-02 05:29 pm (UTC)Vienna is near to us indeed - barely 3 hours by train. Getting from one end of my city to the other can take longer. Mum and I go to Austria 2 - 3 times a year; she can't manage long trips anymore, and I don't like to leave her alone. She's great fun to travel with, though, so it's no sacrifice.
Approaching retirement is very nice indeed, even though Boss Woman will do her worst to make my remaining work time... unforgettable, I'm sure about that. She's that kind of person.
