I didn't have a productive day. In the morning I went with Mum to get her prescriptions - we had to go to two different practices, so that basically ate my morning. I managed to run over to the stationary's and the craft shop while she was waiting, and also to the market, so we only had to drop by the grocer's afterwards. Even so, it was almost midday when we got home.

Then I cooked what we call vadas - it is a dish usually made from beef or wild meat (???), with a rich sauce and cooked noodles. I made it from turkey, cut to small pieces and cooked to the death so that Mum could eat it. It was fairly good nonetheless; the sauce had laurel leaves and honey and raisins in it and balsamico vinegar. Very tasty. Alas, it was only a small portion, so we ate it for lunch in one sitting. Some of the noodles were left; I'll have to get creative with them tomorrow.

No writing done today, and I didn't even have the time to type up yesterday's finished chapter because I'm indulging in watching crap telly in the afternoon - usually I can't do that, as I work permanently in the afternoon shift. Crap telly is good for my German vocabulary, though, so it isn't an entire waste of time, after all. Tonight I'll be watching another lengthy program on German TV, so I don't expect doing anything useful for the rest of the day. Tuesdays are usually like that.

I've worked a teeny bit on the inner layer of my current Christmas box WIP; I'm fairly content with it. Two panels are done, tomorrow I intend to make the other two, and then there'll be pictures, I promise.

Sounds like a nice day, enjoy your telly time. Like I said before, you really deserve to just kick back and chill when you finally have the opportunity - especially with it being so hot right now! Is it hot in Budapest, too? We're being cooked alive here.

Vadas sounds absolutely delicious, especially the sauce.

It is basically our version of Jägersauce. It is getting hot over here, too, but with intermittent rain falls (hurrah for the leaking balcony), which adds a nice, sauna-like quality to the whole thing.

Yuck, that sounds super fun :( Here it's just hot, they promised rain for today but it hasn't happened so far. I'd been hoping for a cool down.

That sounds like an interesting dish. Where does it hail from?

Actually, it is a fairly common dish in both Hungary and Transylvania. The Austrian and German people have something nearly identical called Jägersosse. Thr authentic recipe requires a lot of time and effort. I make the quick and lazy version; it is good enough for us and is done in less than an hour.
