Happy Birthday, sallymn! I hope you had a wonderful time.

Have a piece of my freshly baked sponge cake with vanilla cream and fresh strawberries!



It looks a bit ugly, the poor thing - I always have difficulties with these cake melts as I don't have a microwave and can never produce the right temperature when melting them over hot water - but Mum and both neighbours can give testimony that it is delicious.

We bought the strawberries directly from the farmer, which means that they weren't collected days before, so they are fresh, aromatic and wonderfully ripe. Yum!

Of course, the sponge cake is absolutely delicious with calories, too. Calories are the secret vice that gives imminent satisfaction (alas, it also causes a rapidly expanding waistline). *g*
