Three more matrjoshki. They aren't so shockingly blue in original, but the illumination wasn't right for my poor little iPod. So, believe me when I tell you that one of them actually had a white veil and one a grey robe.

I also tried my hand on Fanta slices for the first time, ever. It's basically a dense chocolate sponge on the bottom, then comes a cheesecake filling, topped with jelly made from orange lemonade.

We had the first part of our 50th anniversary insanity behind us; 3 more days to go. Our 1970s-themed exhibition came out really nicely, and my retro cookies were a raging success among the colleagues.

The matrjoshki are a relatively easy pattern, consisting of a few basic parts like body (2x), veil (front and back), face, hair and apron. Everything else is decoration and the variables are endless.

The slices aren't that hard to make, either. They are just a bit time-consuming, as you have to wait between the individual phases for the sponge and the filling and the jelly to cool/chill/stock, respectively. We've just discovered how much better they are if they've rested in the fridge for a day or two.
