And it didn't even start that way! Mum and I wanted to go to town and do some shopping, but I was so dead on my feet that we gave up on the idea and slept in until almost 10 am.

The more surprising was it that I then brought up the energy to finish my steampunk explosion box. It isn't entirely professional, but I'm quite pleased with the results nonetheless.

This is the lid, seen from above:

I also finished the next chapter of "The Immunity Syndrome", my canon Star Trek - TNG story. I'll type it up and post it tomorrow.

Other than that, I got my iPad back from the neighbour, who's very busy with important stuff at the moment, so he didn't have the time to tinker with my baby. Well, I'll get used to charge it twice a week instead of every other week as before, until further notice.

Yesterday they were repairing the central heating again - not that I feel much improvement. Of course, the stupid thermostat takes back the heat when it isn't very cold outside, which means that inside it is colder that way. Ah, well...

/nodnod Yeah, charging it twice a week isn't so bad, compared to having to wait ages to get it fixed. Might need a new battery, they don't charge so well anymore after a while, but as far as I know you can't swap them yourself on iPads.

Central heating STILL being a pain sucks. I'm so sorry.

But hey the explosion box looks great! that has definitely been a success, just like the writing progress.

Yeah, poor thing is five years or so - in these days that counts as a dinosaur. But I like it very much and would keep as long as I can.

The explosion box actually looks a great deal better in reality - my amateurish photos don't show its real beauty. Considering that I only made it because I messed up the outer layer of the other box - the one with the chocolates - I think I can be content with the outcome.

How are you doing by the way? If you don't want to discuss your life publicly, all my e-mail addresses still work, you know. *hint, hint* Give your Mama my regards!

The box is beautiful. Do you want me to edit the chapter?

I haven't managed to type it up, after all. Mum felt under the weather, and I was busy with household chores instead. :(
But I could send you the previous chapter if you're willing. I've posted it unedited because you were busy at the time and I didn't want to bother you, but I can always re-post the corrected version.

I'm glad you like the box. I wish I could make you one, but it wouldn't survive the postal services.

Yes, I'd be happy to edit it. Don't worry about me being busy as sometimes I find editing relaxing. The post isn't too bad as long as things don't get lost, my friend in the USA sometimes sends chocolates!

Yes, but these paper boxes are very fragile - they can get irreparably damaged if you as much as drop them, and I don't think the post would be the right place for them.

Thanks for the offer, I'll send you the previous chapter right away.

Your boxes are fantastic--have you thought about making them on commission? They're such amazing presents!

Have you tried restarting the iPad? Sometimes that helps with battery issues.

Apparently, it helped that the poor thing wasn't used - or charged - for almost two weeks. It seems to do better at the moment, let's hope it lasts. *fingers crossed*

I'm glad you like my boxes. I like making them as a way to relax and balance out all the ugliness at work, but doing it on commission would only be additional stress that I really don't need. I made quite a few of them as gifts for friends and family who appreciate the effort and don't mind if there are mistakes - I'm generally unable to cut straight lines, for one, either with scissors or with a cutter - but if I had to stress over making them faultless, it would kill all the joy. Just like with baking or sewing or writing...
