... was organized by me last Tuesday. No, seriously.

It started as a surprise for our beloved colleague and choir leader, ÁM. I got the idea that we should learn Amazing Grace and sing it her on the very last rehearsal as a Christmas gift. The others found the idea good. The only problem was that I work int the opposite shift to everyone else, so we couldn't rehearse it during the day. Lame attempts were made to organize an urgent phone call for ÁM during one of the official weekly rehearsals, without success.

So we decided to bite the bullet, show up and simply sing it (of course everyone had the sheet music and the lyrics and busily practiced on her own with the help of YouTube or whatnot). In the end, it was great fun. The end product wasn't entirely homogenous, but what we lacked in professionalism, we made up for with enthusiasm and love, declared the whole thing a flashmob and provided ÁM with the sheet music, in case she wants to do it professionally with us one day. She was truly moved, and we had fun.

It was indeed. Our choir has gone through some tough times - we don't get any sort of support from the boss (although she likes to show pride over our achievements), we even have to pay our pianist from our own pockets, but we stick together and have grand times.

That sounds fantastic. It's the best Christmas present you could have given her!

My thoughts exactly. Sure, we could have bought her another coffee mug or umbrella patterned with musical notes, but she wouldn't have been half as happy with it, I think. Accidentally, we had a guest on that day, one of those so-called opera ambassadors (opera singers or ballet dancers who visit schools to make classical music more popular), and he spontaneously sang with us. I think that satisfies the demands of a flash mob. *g*
