Busy weekend
Dec. 9th, 2017 09:00 pmFirst to the creative part: I baked Vanillekipferl today:

Which are little vanilla flavoured crescents, the dough of which consists of flour, sugar, almonds and margarine. After baking, they are rolled in vanilla flavoured icing sugar.
Originally, I wanted to bake tomorrow, because Mum and I planned to go to Linz (Austria) today, to visit the Christmas fair; that is one we haven't seen yet. Alas, Mum has caught some bladder problems, likely due to a cold she didn't realize she had, so she couldn't come with me, as one can't carry the loo on one's back.
Fortunately, the train ticket is valid for 3 days, and - even more fortunately - my cousin's wife, with whom I get on splendidly, was willing to come with me tomorrow. So I won't lose the money I've already paid for the tickets; only that which I've paid for the seat reservation, which is only valid for the very day and train it was bought for. So we'll have to see how we get some seats when we board the train in the morning; it is 4 hours to Linz, standing that long won't be comfortable.
In any case, I'm looking forward to a day spent with Heidi on the Christmas fairs - there are two of them in Linz, both look very promising. See for yourself:

Please send Mum good thoughts... and wish us a safe trip.
