The events of the day
Feb. 7th, 2004 06:07 pmWe finally managed to put down the Christmas tree. Arrgh. Was about time. I love decorating the thing - my only vaguely artistic talent - but putting it down is awful. My hands feel like pincushions, and I have swollen feet from standing and stretching for half the morning. But it was an eventful day even beyond that.
I purchased a Penguin selection of Canterbury Tales and Weapons and Warfare in Middle-earth - the latter one only in Hungarian, unfortunately. Also, it's a movieverse background book, with Haldir at Helm's Deep and other PJ-canon stuff, which I hate. But at least it's full of wonderful pictures about the sets, the costumes and the items - it's the first time I could take a close enough look at the Rings, all of them. I must admit that these parts are wonderfully done.
And I found a pic of an extra who looks exactly how I imagine book!Faramir. I'll have to scan him into my PC and put up the pic into my Album for the Edhellond crowd as some drooling material.
We also had Big Laundry Day (TM)and "let's finally clean the balcony where the Xmas tree stood"-day and other lovely household activities.
Then I accessed my Hotmail mailbox (which serves my non-private purposes) and almost fainted, seeing 7 messages from the ff.net bot. Alas, 4 of them turned out as author alerts. Which is still a good thing, as I can keep track on my favourites, but it was something of a disappointment anyway. Despite the 3 fine reviews I got for FotE 5.
*bows in gratitude to reviewers*
I found a story that seemed promising for the first sight. But after I've read through the available 11 chapters, I think I'll pass. Too bad, I was so happy at first to find something worth reading.
And that's about it. I'm going to watch The Ghost of Canterville (if that's the English title) on German TV tonight. The ever-wonderful Patrick Stewart plays the title role, and I watch about everything he plays in.

Date: 2004-02-07 03:33 pm (UTC)Congrats on the reviews! And you'll enjoy Canterville Ghost, I saw it several years ago, and Patrick Stewart gets to show off his Shakespearian acting skills very nicely in a few scenes. I can't think of any other actor who could have done justice to the part so well.

Date: 2004-02-07 04:04 pm (UTC)I'm sore this morning but no more. A shower will help. Animal husbandry can be dangerous, especially when you realise this pony was not trying to hurt anyone (the waving front hooves were kept well away from the people) he was just showing disapproval at having his feet trimmed!

(And I didn't mean it ironically at all!)
Re:

Re:
Date: 2004-02-08 03:38 am (UTC)Well, probably not exactly like my imagination of book!Faramir, but certainly light years closer to him than David Wenham.
