These are so-called easy envelope journals, made of six simple envelopes each; it is something I want to try with my fifth grade kids and created a few for them as templates, using old Christmas cards I got from various friends. That way they'll be kept. :)

There are lots of pics behind the tag - tell me what you think!

Journal #1 - cover:

And a look inside it (again, the envelopes are actually snow white, but my iPad tends to turn them blue on the pictures, no idea why):

Journal #2 - cover:
(This one with a cover of green felt and lace edging - the lace was made by my Grandma over 30 years ago and gathered dust in a drawer for just as long)

And the inside:
(The photos show genuine gingerbread houses I made with some friends decades ago)

Oh my gosh the journal with the lace! I love that you've found new use for it after all these years. These journals are good all around to give new life to things that have been catching dust.

The lace is very pretty, isn't it? Now I regret that I never learned how to crochet. Granny made all sorts of this stuff, from tablecloths the size of bed linens to these edgings. The pencil holder a couple of posts back is decorated with her lace, too.

Very pretty, yes! It's fantastic that your grandma could do that.

Oh man, yes, crocheting lace... I should really do that again, I used to make edgings for smaller things, at least, but it's been so long I'd probably have to learn from scratch by now.

Same here. I'm seriously considering relearning how to crochet from a colleague.

Thank you. They're far from perfect, I never manage to align the stupid envelopes right, but they'll serve as templates well enough. At least the kids won't think I'd expect the impossible from them. *g*

I think I recognize one of the cards :) These are such a good idea, the kids will love making them and what a remembrance they'll be.

I thought you would recognize it! I've been keeping that particular card all the years and am very glad to have found a new use for it.

I have a few of those left. Peter keeps buying more cards every year, and I never get a chance to use them all! I'd be glad to send them to you if you want to use them for the kids.

That is very kind of you. I'm sure they would be excited to get cards from the States and get to boast about it. ;))
