It's way too hot for anything like that. My apologies for the long absence, but temperatures went up to 40°C and I wasn't capable of much.

I did a bit of writing, posted the first couple of parts of my new Primeval/Sherlock/Torchwood crossover to [livejournal.com profile] otherworlds_lib, put up the last finished chapter of The Immunity Syndrome, my latest canon-compliant TNG story, to AO3 and FF.Net, and watched a lot of athletics. We even earned two medals, which is about as much as Hungary ever achieved on an athletics world championship, so we are proud.

To those who're still around and willing to read weird sci-fi crossovers, title suggestions to the new story are welcome. It's unusual for me to start a story without a title, but this time I just can't come up with a good one. The story takes place during Series 4 and 5 of Primeval, as a 'what if', with Jack, Tosh and Ianto being present and interacting with the ARC team. Owen is a zombie, but CoE never happened, and "Exit Wounds" ended differently.

Awww yes, I have been hooked to my TV for athletics, too! It's a nice change of pace. So sad that my favs, the pole vault, are done. It's just so impressve (and terrifying) to watch people haul themselves that high into the air. Nothing could get me to do that even if I had the skill, but I'm awed.

I hope temperatures will go down soon. I'Ve heard the same from friend in Vienna. Meanwhile I'm sitting here with my thick woolen socks and a hoodie, and sometimes have to turn on the radiator in the evenings...

The pole vault absolutely rocks! That's my favourite, too - that and the various sprinter disciplines, particularly the one with the hurdles (sp?). Those people look like gazelles while jumping over the things.

We had two stormy and rather cold days, too, but now temperatures are back to hellish grades again. The worst part is that they can drop or climb 15 or more degrees from one day to the other. Not good for circulation and blood pressure. Fortunately, Mum is coping well enough for her age. How is yours doing?

Awwww yes, hurdles is fantastic, too! Running and jumping, when I would have enough problems with just one at a time!

Ugh, these temperature shifts sound awful. Perfect to wreck you. I'm glad your Mom is doing okay with it.

My Mom's doing well. She does good with summer heat, though yeah, this year we don't even have any. What we do have is three months of road construction work right in front of the house. From 7 am till 5 pm they are at it with huge machines. Deafening noise even with the (old) windows closed, the house is shaking like it's an earthquake... That's kinda wrecking her nerves by now. Makes it hard to leave the house, too, since there's only a small path which is uncomfortable to walk while they're at it, so she doesn't like to leave the house til they're done.

Give your Mama my regards. I still regret that we didn't meet her all those years ago.

As for athletics, i've just discovered how exciting decathlon is. Those guys are amazing, the things they can do...
