I've just found this most amazing tutorial:

I think I actually might be able to make one of these. Not in these ice cream watercolours, rather in more vintage motifs, but it should be doable until July. *crosses fingers*

I hope so. I'm still intimidated by the binding part, but I think I just might manage it.

Yeah, at least with thread it should be easier than the other ones, which I think were glued?

I think so, yes. But I won't dare to try my hand on the glued version - you need industrial strength glue for that to work.

Oh yeah that would be way too complicated. But the thread binding looks like a really nice plan B!

In theory, yes. But I'll have to try it in practice first.

I've bookmarked this, it looks quite do-able.

I hope so, yes. I'm planning to make a test piece, for one of my students as a holiday journal, and when I seem to be able to manage the technique, I'll go on with the wedding album for not only one but two young colleagues.

That's amazing! I would love to make something like that for my daughter for a Christmas gift. She would love it.

Well, you have ample time until Christmas to give it a try. I've just started my test piece and will be happy to share my experiences.

Well, I gave the poor woman's version a try; have done the covers and am currently experimenting with the pages. We'll see how the binding is going to work. *fingers crossed*
