The shingles reached the three-week mark, I'm no longer contagious and the rash has begun to fade. I still hurt like a b*tch, though, actually, it's grown even worse, and the doctor "encouraged" me that it can take weeks yet for the pain to go completely.

So I asked to go back to work, starting Monday. It can't get any worse, and while I don't really miss school, all that insanity might distract me from the pain, at least. Besides, the others have done my work next to their own long enough. The doctor saw no reason that I shouldn't, so I'm going back.

It was a really shitty three weeks, I can't write, I can't sew, I can't even sit or lie comfortably for longer periods, and at nights I wake up and wander around in the flat, waiting for the pain to deflate. So I can as well go to work. God, I hate this.

I'm so sorry you had to go through these hellish weeks, and hope that the pain goes way much faster. School is a torture in itself, but hopefully it will distract you as you hope.

Amen. It's horribly frustrating to spend weeks at home and not being able to do anything you like to do.
At least I posted a lot of stuff to AO3 for safety reasons, as it required relatively little arm movements.

Yes, very frustrating! Especially when time off from work is so precious under normal circumstances.

At least one thing, though a very small consolation. The time spent on that is time you won't need to spend when you are capable of doing other things.

Oh that really sucks. Thinking cooling thoughts. Hope work distracts.

It does, although not necessarily in a good way...

Sounds awful. I hope it improves soon.

A week later, little to no improvement has happened.

The doctor says it might be another two or three weeks. If I'm lucky. Otherwise it might take even longer.

So sorry, I had a co-worker who had shingles, and she had such a hard time of it. I am glad you are well enough to go back to work.

I'm not sure it was such a good idea, but I hate staying home when I'm unable to do anything useful.
