My colleague and her fiancé were very happy with her cake. I'm pleased. She's such a nice girl; surrounded by young people like her makes me feel as if I had children, after all. (And grandkids, where the students are concerned.) :)

Also, I was selected to do the baking with the kids at this year's "Rabbit Cup" again. I'm thinking of making carrot muffins; have already downloaded and printed out several recipes from the German website http://www.chefkoch.de, but I'd gladly accept more suggestions, should someone have a really good recipe.

However, I'll be baking with 12-16 kids between the ages of 13-15, so the recipes should be quick and easy. I chose carrot muffins because that way I can include more kids in the work - grating carrots and all that stuff - and a bored teenager is a dangerous teenager. *g*

I'll try, thanks!

Er... how much is a cup of anything in grams? I'm seriously confused by this measure system.

That's the problem, it depends on what you have. I don't know if there's a rule of thumb, I always use an online calculator like this one http://dish.allrecipes.com/cup-to-gram-conversions/

Oh, thank you, it will serve at least as a guideline!

I hope it helps! The conversion is always a pain.

Since I often use recipes in cups I have bought measuring cups for cheap when I had the opportunity. While using them for stuff like butter is an absolute mess, with flour and sugar it's nice to just scoop them into the package and you're done.

I can imagine. I don't remember having seen them over here, though, so I've just printed out the conversion grids and will use them in the future.

Speaking of which, I always get a crisis when German recipes tell me to use "drei Eßlöffel Butter" and so on. How on Earth can you measure butter with tablespoons unless it is melted - when the recipe doesn't ask for melted butter?

I have no idea! I've never come across that for butter. I'd google how much gram a spoon of butter is considered.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Usually, with such idiotic instructions I just do it "Pi mal Daumen", as you Germans say. *g*

Chocolate zucchine muffins would be a good choice too. Here is a good recipe:

Congratulations on your success with the chocolate cake!

We love carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. I'm sure you've got enough recipes to choose from, so I won't send you the one we use. Baking with the group of kids will be fun, I'm sure! When I had a Girl Scout troop, some of our best activities involved group cooking.

I see someone's recommended a chocolate-zucchini recipe. Our school lunch program used to have them, and they were delicious.
