So, we had Christmas, like everyone else, naturally. Only that I was sick like a dog. In the night from 23.14 to 24.12 I slept approximately an hour and a half, due to my own coughing. I kid you not. I rose like a drunken sailor after shore leave yesterday. Also, I couldn't speak. At all. My voice cords were out of commission. Completely. I could produce some inarticulate sounds and I could whisper - which Mum couldn't hear, since her hearing is slowly failing. It was fun - NOT.

Nevertheless, we got the Christmas tree decorated as a joint effort. You can see the proof below. Every single piece of decoration on it is home-made, which is why I'm quite proud of it. I think there's a ton of homemade candy on that poor tree - a good thing it stands on the balcony without heating. Anyway, here it is:

I wanted something Christmass-y in my own room as well, so I hung up some of the felt ornaments from last year, in the form of a tree. I think it turned out quite nice:

(Yes, I know the wallpaper is inexcusably dirty, thank you very much. Once, it used to be white. We've been planning to replace it for the last 15 years, but considering how long the balcony drama lasted, I think I'll overlook the dirt for a while yet.)

The rest of my Christmas candy, gift-wrapped for my colleagues (I gave them the little packages on the last working day):

The full collection of gift boxes I gave away with the candy:

And finally, the Most Disastrous Truffle Cake (TM), looking as if it's been flattened by an earthslide or whatnot:

Other than that, I made fake mulled wine for the evening (using apple juice instead of wine) and tried to stay alive. Speaking is still not much of an issue, and the coughing is still very bad, but at least I could sleep a couple of hours last night between two violent coughing attacks.

So, enough whined, wishing you blessed Christmas overall!

Those gift boxes turned out fantastic! The tree looks great (and I finally get a glimpse of the notorious balcony), and the felt ornaments are another clever idea. You're very good at this :)

I really hope you start to feel better quickly, and Christmas and New Year's greetings to you and your mum.

Gah, I hope so. I hate feeling so miserable all the time, and it's unfair that it always comes when school's out!

Thank you for the kind greetings, the same back to you. *hugs*

Hope you feel better soon. Next year will be better! That's what I keep telling myself, anyway. Merry christmas, and all the best for the new year!

Best wishes to you as well. I'm still coughing and barely speaking - thank God for the Internet, because phone calls won't work right now. *g*

As this is one of the lazier days of the year (especially after I spent weeks clearing out my mother's house - she moved to a home and the house itself is sold), I thought I´d take a look at Livejournal again. You got yourself a couple of lovely Christmas decorations, the truffle cake looks eminently edible and your penguins would make Larissa melt. I was sorry to read you were feeling so lousy, and I wish you - and your mum, of course - lots of good health and a pleasant 2017!

Hey, welcome back! I don't envy you for the house-clearing, it must have been a gargantuan task. Must be a good feeling that you're done.

The truffle cake isn't edible at all, unfortunately. It has the consistence of concrete, so I simply scratch the creme out of it and throw away the rest. Mum valiantly ate two whole slices - and then couldn't ate anything else for the rest of the day, the things lay in her stomach like a couple of stones. She still insists that the cake is good...

So, Larissa likes penguins? I'll have to remember next time and send her one of the felt ones that are flat enough to travel in a bubble envelope. How is she doing anyway? And Valerie?

I'm still quite sick, if it doesn't go away at the end of Christmas break I'll see my doctor and avoid work for a while. It won't make any sense to spend hours at the icy cold school yard in my current condition.

Wishing you a good next year, too!

Hope you feel better soon and the rest of the day went well. Every impressive decorations and I'm sure that the cake tastes good!

Thank you for the card, it arrived Friday or Saturday (I'm not sure - it has been one of those weeks)!

Sometimes you can have a whole string of those weeks, in my experience. *sigh* Glad the card arrived in any case.

The cake is horrible. Concrete has no taste, so I choose to scratch out the cream and eat it alone. I'm so sad about that cake. The annoying part is that I've already made it once and know how delicious it can be - if the baker isn't an idiot. :((

I'm sorry to hear you've been so ill! Do take care of yourself, my friend! Snuggle up in bed under a warm blanket and read something for fun.

Your "wall tree" is a lovely and clever way to enjoy all those charming ornaments! Too bad the cake didn't work out. We've had a few of those lately at our house: it's so disappointing when that happens, especially at the holidays.

Best to you and Mum for Boxing Day!

Thank you. I'm wondering if you get to see this reply at all. I can't see any of the comments currently, or the details of my profile page, and I can't select an icon, either. Grrrrr!
