The newest winter project: the seal:

She is a bit odd-looking, the poor thing, and quite fat, too, since the only papier maché elements I could use for her body were an egg and a ball for head. The colour is also... err... interesting, my very first attempt to work with acrylic paint. But all in all, she looks happy enough, and I like her.

In case you are wondering, the transparent ball in front of her is supposed to be filled with fish eggs. She's a gourmet seal, she eats fish eggs instead of whole raw fish. *g*
(Actually, I did the fish for the polar bear, so I wanted to do something different with the seal).
Oh, and she's supposedly lazing around on a big piece of floating ice in the middle of the polar sea.

Thanks. I worked with her very hard. It wasn't the amount of work that killed me, obviously - the Inuit had a lot more detail, and so did the fish for the polar bear - but to find a way to fix head and body and the other parts was a real pain in the backside. Plus, the water-based paint soaked the parts a bit, so I had to dry them overnight, which was annoying. I prefer to finish my pieces quickly.

Old age makes you impatient, I guess. *rueful grin*

Oh man, yes, that sounds like a pain! It's frustrating when something should be simple, and then problems keep cropping up.

But loads of experience gained for future similar projects?

God, yes! Especially concerning the hopelessness of some ideas. *g*

A very common one when it comes to me and crafts, I'm afraid.

Thank you. :)
I don't know why I decided that she'd be a female, it just came naturally. *g*

Yes, this time the face actually turned out the way I wanted it to be.
Next up: the penguins!
