St Pölten, Day 5
Aug. 6th, 2016 06:23 pmApologies for the belated entry. As you can see, we are back, safe and sound, by the grace of God. I was just too tired to post last nighg when we got hó me around 9 PM.
The last day was slightly less fun than the others because it was raining steadily all day, and we had already packed our umbrella away and left it with our luggage.
But we still did have fun. We took another tour with the little sightseeing train, an this time we even heard most of the guiding that we had missed at the first time due to the deaf granny sitting behind us who was screeching with her grandkids.

We also managed to get into a church that had been closed when we tried previously (twice) - it was a lovely one. I made some pics, just in case you are interested.

We bought funny little pieces of chocolate as gifts for some friends, and visited a shop where they sold various sorts of house-made vinegar and oil. The lady had us try pistachio and hazelnut oil as well as vinegar made of dates. It was interesting. But even more was the shop itself, in which all these products were kept in little barrels, made of wood, ceramic or glass. The barrels had little taps, and you could sample the stuff with the help of long-stemmed tiny spoons.

At Müller's I found more Dr Who DVDs, which i bought. It was a very successful trip in that area. But we didn't return to the amazing ice cream place. It was simply too cold for that. 19 degrees Celsius, in fact, compared to the 36 on the previous day. We sat in knitted waistcoats and anoraks at the reilway station, waiting for our train.
Of course, when we arrived home, it was 33 degrees in Budapest. Had been all week, or so the neighbours say. The flat was like a sauna, only much drier. Fortunately, it rained during the night, so it is bearable at the moment.
All in all, we had a grand time. I can recommend the place to any one who wants more relaxed holidays than one would find in famous places.
