Oho!

Apologies to the English-speaking friends - my vocabulary doesn't include finer expressions where cooking is inwolved. ~sheepish look~

Also, I've trimmed my friendslist again, removing those who never reacted to anything I had posted in the previous year although still active on LJ. It doesn't make much difference, since I hardly ever make any f-locked entries, but I don't see why should I have my Friends page overflown with the stuff of people who don't give a rat's arsenal about me. No offence intended.

Sorry for the phrasing. My workplace keeps making me cranky.

ok. I'm still at "beginner" level for German language but...
- with a little help from Google translate (ok, a lot) -
You're making Apple sauce from 'scratch'?
Yum!
If I'm getting this right, after a 30 year break and a bit a improvisation, it turned out okay, too.
Bravo! Congratulations! :)
When I eat applesauce, I 'zap' it in the microwave to warm it up and I love adding a touch of cinnamon into it. delicious.

Yep, I was making basic apple sauce and froze it. When I get it out, I will add other spices, like cinnamon or ingwer, depending on what I am using it for. And yes, it turned out very yummy. ;)

I can understand that...

I have about eight words of German (my sister studied enough to guide us round when we visited) and ten of French (the latter, as I keep mentioning, I learned from Miss Piggy :)

I really hope I'll get the chance to pick up French again, once I retired. It is an amazingly beautiful language, and I still dream of revisit certain places in France (or visit them for the first time) if I live long enough.

Btw, I described my adventure of cooking apple sauce in the entry above, in case Google has failed you.

Oh dear... :) As a NonCook of legendary proportions, I admire anyone who even tries.

Sis has a wonderful rosemary chicken with tomato that she actually translated out of a German newspaper, which fills me with awe (I also admire anyone bilingual, like Sis and you - me, I always say speak three languages fluently. English, Bureaucratese, and Gobbledygook).

I love languages! I grew up with Hungarian and German (my second language) and just a tiny bit Romanian, which I've completely forgotten since early childhood. At school, I had Russian for some ten years, also mostly forgotten, unfortunately, as I never used it, although it is a beautiful language on its own way. All I can still remember are some stray phrases and some folk songs.

Then I randomly learned Spanish and French, at both of which I failed for reasons that weren't my fault - the teachers quit, the groups were dissolved and so on. I was well beyond 30 when I started with English, which I found harder than any other language I had learned before, even Russian. Most other languages have a certain inner logic that I still have to discover in English. Sorry. ;))

I like cooking, but I like baking more. It relaxes me than few other things do. Mum is always laughing when I come home from work and head to the kitchen and asks: "So, they have pissed you off again?" And then I work out my frustration on the dough and we have delicious cookies as a result. *g*

Gratuliere! :)
