Hello 2016!
Jan. 1st, 2016 04:52 pmWe had a nice New Year's Eve with Mum - quiet and peaceful, just the two of us, as we prefer. Since practically all my friend live far away, scattered over the globe, this is the best I can have while at home.
We had cooked sausages, as it is traditional in Hungary, and Sunwheel - a drink containing eggnog and demi-sec or dry champagne, in whatever percentage one likes. I made it fifty-fifty. It is a delicious drink but has a kick like a mule. At least for me - I very rarely drink, and it doesn't take much to make me a little giddy. There were private little fireworks over the nearby car park, all very nice. Oh, and I got a lovely e-card from
lindahoyland - thank you, my friend.
In the morning I managed to take pictures with my iPad of some really old family photographs and uploaded them to my Family history at Pinterest. They are very funny photos, with Mum as a small child yet frowning just as fiercely as she does now, 80-some years later. I'm planning to virtualize our entire family album; some of the photos are really old and need to be "conserved" somehow.
Oh, and I finally finished Chapter 12 of The Book of Mazarbul. It isn't posted yet, I'll wait a day or two to actually spot any mistakes by proofreading. I'm also about to re-read the whole thing, weeding out typos and picking out continuity errors... with a story that hasn't been updated for years it is necessary.
Unfortunately, my holidays will be over by the day after tomorrow. Retirements seems more desirable with each passing day, but I'm not there yet, unfortunately. Not that I don't like my work, I'm just old and tired and would like to live long enough to have some strength and health left when it's over.
