Linz, Day One
Jul. 13th, 2015 09:40 pmSo, we arrived on schedule and this time there was no problem with the hotel reservation, thank God. We have a nice little room on the first floor (though a bit cold, as the weather is cool, yet not cold enough for heating). Traffic connections are good, too.
After our arrival, we rode the tram to Hauptplatz and booked a short sightseeing tour on one of those little trains one can find in many towns. They don't really go on Gleises (sorry, can't remember the English word) and look more like toys. It was fun.
Then we went to Thalia, a big shop where you can find books, DVDs, stationary, pretty little gifts, DIY articles and lots more. I bought a cute little cookie cutter in the shape of a teddy and a glass bottle, in which are all ingredients of a small toffee cake, together with recipe. Mum bought a small book about why getting 60 is a great experience for my cousin's wife, who'll turn sixty in October. I read the booklet in 10 minutes, it is hilarious. She'll laugh her head off.
We had coffee at Thalia, then came back to the hotel to have dinner. Won't do that again; it was way too expensive for the little thing it actually was. Then we decided we were too exhausted to do anything else but warm up under a hot shower and go to bed. All in all, it was a good first day.
