The Royal Wedding in Sweden
Jun. 13th, 2015 06:26 pmI must admit: I'm a sucker for royal weddings. I watch them, whenever they're transmitted. And coronations, too. Stupid, I know, but here you are. ;)
I particularly like when it happens in one of the Scandinavian countries. I see Queen Margarethe of Denmark and remember my friend
lissas_elves - happy birthday, my dear, by the way! I see the Swedish royal family and think of
solanpolarn or
disthrainsdotte, whose birthday is also coming up, soon, so my best wishes!
Whenever there's a report about the Dutch royal family, I must think of
rcfinch or Vorondis or Nemis. And the British royals call to memory a dozen dear friends, like
altariel,
the_wild_iris,
espresso_addict,
lindahoyland,
edge_of_ruin, and
ooxc just to name a few. Perhaps this is the practical use of royals in these days: to make us remember our friends that live in that particular country. ;))
That said, I loved the wedding of Prince Carl Philipp and Sofia. It was a successful meld of tradition and modern, and the Swedish people are a lovely bunch. Little Princess Estelle was adorable as a flower girl, and the ranking wedding guest, Queen Margarethe, looked gorgeous in her red gown, despite her age.
