I'll be writing it in Torchwoodgate, Year Two. But no worries, not the usual, pr0ny and rapey-i version but the "aliens made them do it" version.

Remember the 2nd Season SGA-episode "Condemned"? Where a planet live reasonably in peace from the Wraith, because they simply handed over their criminals to the monsters to eat? Until they started to accuse innocent people of crimes, too, just to fulfil their quota?

Well, I got the following idea: what if it weren't the criminals? What if the Wraith, long time ago, did genetic experiments on the Olesians, just like they did in canon on Teyla's people, and created a third gender, in order to increase the numbers of their herds? This third gender would be the Omegas, where the females are incredible fertile, bearing litters every time and held secluded like broadmares, while the males are hermaphrodites, capable of siring and bearing offspring in equal measure.

An unfortunate side effect of the experiments would be that approx 1/3 of the population would be born infertile (speak about backfiring, big deal). It would be these infertile Betas who are handed over to the Wraith, while Alphas are the families whose genetic heritage hasn't been tampered with, basically the original Olesian genom, on which basis they have all the power and influence on the planet. Of course, Omegas would be handed over as food as soon as they're beyond breeding age as well.

I think it would be more interesting than just handing over the criminals. Or, at least, more sci-fi, since the original concept was actually good.

That's an excellent idea. It would make a good premise for the existence of omegas. I'm quite capable of suspending disbelief when reading, but some stories require a greater effort from me. M-preg is one of those themes. I generally have difficulty reading it. No criticism meant, it's just something I find hard to read.
And I love Torchwood and Stargate, so I love the idea of combining the two. I think I have enjoyed every crossover between the two I have read.
I found the Olesian culture interesting but repugnant. I think it was because the choices were made by an elite group. If it had been voluntary, some people choosing to give up their lives, it would be a culture I could admire greatly.

I love Torchwood/SGA crossovers as well, which is why I keep writing them. ;)
I like Mpreg myself, but it's rarely written in a convincing manner. In sci-fi, with alien or modified species, though, it can be believable. Plus, of course, the other problem is that in most stories the pregnant guys practically can't be distinguished from women, at least not where their behaviour is concerned. They are like bad caricatures of women, all needy and clingy and weepy and all that.

Thanks. I wanted to play a bit with the Alpha-Béta-Omega concept, but without all the gratutious pr0n and the dubious consent issues. See the link in the post a few entries back.

It is still Year One for starters, the second part of it. But I think I'll post it as a different story. I don't know how other people are with ungodly long stories, but I'm always reluctant to start reading one that goes beyond 30 chapters or so.

I find omegaverse world building the most interesting part of the concept - sadly one that is rarely addressed - so I'm very excited for this idea!

And yeah, mpreg can be fun to write and read, though it's rarely done in an interesting manner. Oftentimes it's just very bland, no effort or thought put into it.
