So, we had our mini-concert of 20 minutes in the entrance hall of the Gellért Baths today. It was very nice, and the environment is simply amazing, all those Zsolnay ceramic tiles and stained glass windows and Art Nouveau decoration and stuff.

Then we were invited to use the facilities and it was amazing. They had thermal basins with water 30, 35, 36 and 40°C, a chamber filled with chamomile damp, 45°C hot, a sauna that had three chambers, each gradually hotter than the one before, cold-water basins to the damp chambers and the sauna and, of course, the obligatory swimming pools. I enjoyed it greatly, and we had lots of fun.

It put me in such a good mood that I decided to bake a cake in the afternoon. It turned out a DD - delicious but disastrous. It looks like a Word War 2 battlefield after a particularly brutal bombing, but it tastes like heaven. Well, better than the other way round, right?

One more week until Christmas break. Yay!

This sounds so beautiful and relaxing. It is interesting how the open spaces in all sorts of facilities are being put to use as concert venues. Music brings the architecture alive. Or was that area always used for music?

Will photos be forthcoming?

I've seen pictures of the inside of the Gellert Baths, absolutely gorgeous. It's amazing that it's still there and still in use. Taking the baths there would be wonderful.
So what kind of cake was the tasty disaster?

An almond Biskuitboden fille with a chocolate-buttercreme. Literally. The creme consists ofnequal measures of butter and melted dark chocolate. Only that i've managed to mess up the measures of the biscuit and it came out of the oven in pieces, with a semi-liquid middle part. Grrrrr!

I also googled the baths -- amazing! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy such a nice treat. You've certainly earned it this year!

Yeah, it's quite an eye-opener to see how the other half lives. But we might have another concert there at the end of the term, so we perhaps get another chance to be just a little bit decadent.
