Okay, first and foremost let me tell you that this year's party was fantastic! We had 1283 comments on 7 pages, despite the fact that only a few faithful friends attended. And it wasn't even really about numbers - it was the fun we had, the wonderful discussions, the new things we learned about each other... heart-warming is probably the best word for it. So, thank you, ladies, and [livejournal.com profile] mr_ea, who even woke up from his LJ-slumber to join us.

The party closed at midnight, on Thursday, and on Friday I had to spend the whole day at work, so I was properly hung over today. Mum and I crawled out of bed at 10 in the morning, finished breakfast shortly before 11, and then I decided that since the weather was so beautiful, I'd do some more card-stitching, using the natural light. I tried a pattern that seemed fairly simple: a little angel - and spent all morning and most of the afternoon on it. It was all those little swirls wings and the bottom of the angel's gown, and the tiny stars scattered all over it... Anyway, it was a gargantuan effort, but I am happy with the results.

Then I decided to put the leftover kifli (a special sort of bedroll we have over here) and apples to good use and make máglyarakás (bonfire stack) of them. That took another two, two and a half hours, but at least we'll have something for lunch tomorrow. I made it a bit differently than the recipe I linked, but this was the only one I found on the Net in English, and this is as good as mine, I guess. Just let me tell you a secret: a thin layer of grated walnuts between the bread and the apple layer makes it even more fantastic. I didn't have walnuts at home today, but it turned out well enough nonetheless.

Then I remembered that it's time for the weekly "Adventures" update. So here it is: Part 89 - Distraction is the Better Part of Valor has been posted to FF.Net and to the 13th_sherlock DW comm. This is the penultimate chapter of the 2nd Interlude; after that, the series will go on a hiatus, because writing the next arc will be very difficult.

So, this was, basically, my hungover day. Tomorrow, I'll try to work some more on the next part of Kansas 2 - I was just too lazy today.

Great party! I logged into LJ on Friday evening and was momentarily surprised not to find a bunch of comments awaiting me. I will have to try to post more often.

Indeed. it seems weird to have a mostly empty inbox - well, save for the extremely hurtful and mean-spirited review I just got for an old story (see next entry).

It would be nice when we could keep up the contact at least on a weekly basis, though. It isn't so as if we'd get the chance to meet in person any time, soon - and not just with you, with the others either. I don't travel without Mum, as long as I still have the privilege to have her with me, and she's no longer up to any extensive journeys. Alas.

I'm going to try to post more often -- we've been pretty busy here, but most of what we're doing is rather dull so I tend not to post about it.

And of course you will both be very welcome to visit once we're in Scotland, though I don't know how easy it is to get to by public transport!

My favourite travel agency has a Scottish trip on their offer, but Mum wouldn't be able to keep up, so it's out of question, *sigh*

My mother-in-law (who is nearly 89) has visited Mull recently on some form of package tour, though she's not coming from continental Europe of course.

Me, too. The fond memories gave me the strength to face the extreme rudeness I just experienced (see next entry). Yes, I know I'm whiny and fishing for comfort, but it was mean and innecessary. :(

We're back from the sea and preparing to snuggle into our down comforter at home, but I wanted to peek in and see how you are doing after the party. The bonfire stack sounds like a fine cure for an LJ party hangover!

Congratulations on your angel card -- if it's anything like the ones you've gifted me over the years, it must be gorgeous! I keep the one you described as "the star that shone on our meeting" on the bulletin board by my worktable, where I see it from my bed and at my desk.

The new patterns are very pretty - I'll send you one of the more complicated ones this year to see what I'm talking about. :)

The bonfire stack was yummy - we ate the last piece of it an hour or so ago - but unfortunately a little caloric, seeing that half of it consists of some sort of bread.
