Now that my satellite receiver died on me - again - I decided to re-watch some old favourites. Today, it was "Time's Orphan" of DS9. The story in which Molly O'Brien falls through an anomaly ( really what would ST possibly do without unexpected anomalies?) and comes back as an adult who's grown up in the past alone. It is a fairly simple story, and I remembered the ending, of course, but I still feel ridiculously anxious every time - as if there would be a chance that tis time the O'Briens might not get their little girl back.

So do I. I like the O'Briens in general - the fact that they aren't such a perfect family, that they do have the one or other crisis yet always find a solution in the end somehow. And I especially liked the fact that Keiko decided to go back working in her profession after a couple of years, even if only temporarily, instead of being the meek little wife.

it was so great to see a character (transporter guy) who basically said a few lines become a full-fledged character.
I enjoyed the episodes they showed up in.
Keiko did, strangely enough, become meek but, fortunately for all, The Powers That Be corrected that.

Yes, I was relieved when Keiko rediscovered her spine, too. It is always slightly off when male writers are trying to write convincingly strong women. They either end up totally inconsequent, like Janeway, or men in female disguise.

God, that episode was so incredibly silly, and yet so painful. Chalk it up to Colm and Rosalind being extremely good actors. And, perhaps, to the fact that my daughter just turned four.

Thanks! More Cardassians should wear glasses, don't you think?
