Yes, I know I shouldn't let such things get to me, but apparently I was born thin-skinned and will die the same way. So, if you don't want to watch me ranting, don't look behind the tag. This is your only warning.

Because really, what can you do with sy who reads through a 61-chapter-story (so far) and their only comment is to tell you that Character X isn't at all how you portrayed him?

I mean, if they are so unhappy with it, why digging through the whole story? The character was portrayed the same way all the time!

Besides, after nearly 60 years on this planet, almost half the century of which I spent actively writing, I feel entitled to write characters from TV-shows the way I perceive them. I don't need self-important teenieboppers - who could be my grandchildren - to tell me what I ought to write and what way. At my age, certain character treats that might appeal to the younger generation, like rudeness, arrogance and overconfidence, come over as rather negative things. And I do have the right to bloody say so if I want!

Ő write crossovers and AUs in most of my fandoms because I am often unhappy with the way canon turned out. I give my concepts a great deal of thought, do a lot of research and know my facts. So yeah, I really hate pop le who can't appreciate all that hard work and only comment to find fault. Or what they see as fault anyway.

Dear friend,

I am sorry that you are unhappy and distressed by the opinion of an self-important idiot!

I think that you write wonderfully and while I haven't got around to reading all your stories, what I've read so far astounds me.
You are creative and insightful and fabulously talented. I love your work!

I am not sure if this helps but I'd like to leave you with one of my favourite quotes:

“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Cheers!

Happy to see your well put comments regarding stupid reviews. I count myself guilty of that on two separate occasions, with two separate authors. No, you were not one of the authors - I love your work!

I am currently reading "Sleeping Dragons 00 - The unexpected Rise of Director Jones". Found it on FF.Net at chapter 4 & sat down to read all 4 chapters at once ( I go by ther1945 on FF.Net) . That story simply amazes me; the writing is brilliant, the characterizations so wonderful & believable - everything I wish I could have seen on the TV series. And, I was totally shocked that you graciously took the time to respond to my review - never expected anything like that! While waiting for chapter 16, I intend to catch up on all stories in your dragon series & other fandoms as well.

Started reading Torchwood Fan Fiction on 7/9/2009. Found many wonderful, brilliant authors such as yourself. However, never commented on any of the stories I read until Feb. 2013 - another thing I feel guilty about. The two authors I offended, I just had to go back and write an apology to them; one, I was morally offended by one small part of the storyline & vowed not to read any further ( If I'm that easily offended, I need to stay off fan fiction sites); the other, I took offense at the lack of information in the Summary , (imagine that, how petty can one be!).

That first author, eventually put that story on hiatus, appears to be permanent, after 54 chapters. Bummer! Just as I was really getting into & loving that story - serves me right. The second author, she left that piece of info out of her Summary, as it was essential to her story & would have certainly spoiled a great part of the storyline. I never gave her story a chance. I did read her entire story & loved it. And, again, I was left amazed at the how forgiving she was; she sent me an e-mail to offer some hints & suggestions on how to see her story in a different light, which were really helpful.

I guess what I'm trying to say is your comments re Stupid Reviews needed to be said & appreciated - we need to be reminded every so often that this is the author's story to tell - if they wanted to tell the same story as cannon, there would be no reason for them to be here. There would certainly be no need for me to read the stories on this site & others, if I had been satisfied with cannon in the first place! We need to let the author know that we do love & appreciate your efforts & hard work. I could not do what you do, I'm glad you're here. Sorry for the rambling comment.

Ramble away at your heart's pleasure! I love to interact with my readers, and it makes me happy that you enjoy my stuff.

Chapter 16 of "Director Jones is practically done, I'm just struggling with the last couple of paragraphs. Hopefully, you'll keep enjoying the results.

Welcome to my virtual living room, feel free to stop by every time you want to discuss things. :)

Grrr.... must be time for me to go give some folks in fandom a good whoop upside the head again... I mean, really! How hard is it to just click the button and go on to another story? Idiots!

I'll follow ma2d2's fine quotation with one from the inestimable Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of Franklin Roosevelt, whose was often mocked for her "dowdy" appearance: "No one can make me feel inferior without my permission." You are in fine company, my dear friend!

Yeah, I know, there's no real way to fight idiocy. *sigh*
