More Sherlock griping
Feb. 15th, 2014 11:59 pmStill very spoiler-y, so mind the tag.
I liked the wedding ep best, despite an overly sentimental and therefore OOC Sherlock. At least it was funny. I laughed really hard at some scenes. The one with Mycroft working out will remain my favourite, I think.
Now, ep 3 I really hated. The plot wasn't bad in itself, though the erratic filming still gives me a headache, but good Lord, the character assassination at large! The Holmes parents are still idiots, Sherlock and Mycroft are now apparently willing to sell each other (since when?), Mary is stupid enough to believe that shooting Sherlock would solve her problems, and are they truly planning to bring back Moriarty? Because if they are, then I'm done with this show. I always hated that insane cockroach.
I'm perhaps the only one not impressed with Magnussen as the chief villain. And I really, really hate what they've done with Mary. She should have been the opposite of Sherlock, someone who could ground John after his loss, not this shady character. Sorry, Messires Moftiss, but I'm not buying your headcanon in this. And, as much as I love Mycroft, this much explosure has robbed him of his enigmatic air and made him woefully colourless.

Date: 2014-02-16 03:01 pm (UTC)Hopefully, Mycroft can recapture his mystery. What are we to do about the remark about another brother?!?! Some fic writers have decided that Q is the third Holmes brother and that I could accept, but there is a danger of losing the greatest charm of Sherlock if the storylines get too close to James Bond. For me, HLV already did that and now I am hoping for some way out of it because Sherlock, above everything, must be independent. He must not be turned into an agent who is owned by a government.
So, more ruminating about all of this and then more fic, I hope. Otherwise, I may finally go back to some of my WIPs!

Date: 2014-02-16 08:08 pm (UTC)I'd really hate if they brought a Bond character into Sherlock. There are those of is who aren't into Bond, either, and that would shut us out. The series is already about to turn into one big insider joke, playing any more fanservice would make unaccessible for the casual viewer. The moment the third brother shows up, I'll be washing my hands on the show. I read too much bad fanfic featuring an additional Holmes, I don't need to see it in canon, too. The parents were bad enough.
