A good omen?
Jan. 1st, 2014 08:30 pmGranny, God bless her soul, firmly subscribed to the superstition that whatever you might do on the first day of the new year, you'd be doing that for the rest of the year, too. Well, if that's true, I'm looking forward to a delightful year.
I got up really late, had cosy breakfast with Mum and then hung out in the flat all day in my nightshirt and dressing gown (which need be washed anyway, but that's another matter entirely). In this festive attire I wrote an entire chapter to my Miss Marple/Sherlock BBC crossover, which, counting in Chapter 7 that was posted last week and Chapter 8 that I finished yesterday, means three chapters done in a single week! I certainly could live with that!
Then we decided that we didn't want to do any cooking, save for a ready-made soup, as I baked cheesy buns and super-chocolate-biscuits yesterday. So we ate soup and biscuits for lunch. It also limited the amount of dirty dishes considerably, which Mum, who was doing the washing-up, found very pleasant.
Then she went to watch some TV, while I started to type up the ten-page monstrosity I managed to write today. I've just finished, and let me tell you, there *is* such thing as too much of a good thing, too. But it's done now, and I even have an overall idea what the next couple of chapters will be like, so I'm content.
Four more days left from the Christmas holidays. Not nearly enough, but I hope they will be put to good use by yours truly. :)
