Mum and I went to the Christmas market yesterday. [livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict and [livejournal.com profile] mr_ea have seen it a couple of years ago and could support my statement if I say that ours is one of the bests. The Christkindlmarkt in Vienna is perhaps more pompous, but ours has the most class. There is no kitsch on our market; only quality wares created by master artisans, who have their master's certificates hung up in their stalls for everyone to see: wood-workers, basket-makers, potters, honeybread makers, soap manufacturers, honey-makers and so on... the list is sheer endless.

Of course, it's a bit expensive, too. But true quality always is, and the kitsch I saw elsewhere isn't cheap, either. We bought one small item: the tiny figure of a babe, wrapped in traditional blue-dye linen, that we're going to use as a Christmas tree ornament. They had so many different ones I could decorate a three-metres Christmas tree with them without using the same ornament twice. And then there are the ornaments made of natural things, too: of empty poppy captsules, pine cones, straw, tree bark and dozens of other stuff. Again, several Christmas trees could be decorated with them without repeating the pattern. Take a look!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] solanpolarn, [livejournal.com profile] jenn_calaelen and [livejournal.com profile] lindahoyland were kind enough to tell me that their Christmas card has arrived. I've posted the last ones for [livejournal.com profile] sammydragoncat and [livejournal.com profile] ideealisme today and hope that they'll arrive on time.

My little Silvan girl (well, not so little any more in the meantime) is going to England for a year tomorrow, to work for the Arche in Kent. May she have a safe joruney and may her work there be blessed.

Haven't got it yet but I'll let you know. Am touched that you thought of me when you're so busy and am really looking forward to getting it.

The market at Budapest sounds lovely. I kinda know what you mean about Vienna though the one outside the Schoenbrunn Palace was fun. I went there last December with the choir I was in and we sang outside the Palace and my hands were so cold I could barely turn the pages.

One year you'll have to visit at pre-Christmas time. I'd love to show you around.
