Hi folks! *waves" I know I'm late kicking off my virtual birthday party of 2013, but considering that I worked almost 11 hours today, I think I can be forgiven, right?

It's that time of a year again - I'm getting older. In this case, I'm turning 57 on October 9, so let's party!

Last years virtual birthday party yielded 1328 comments on 6 pages, before LJ crashed the whole thing, and 617 additional ones on 3 pages at the second coming. Which won't be easy to top, but we're good, aren't we? WE CAN DO IT! WE CAN BREAK THE 2000-COMMENT-BARRIER! Let's give it a try! In the recent years, it has always been great fun, so let's have fun again!

You're all cordially invited to help yourself to a slice of virtual cake of your choice. If you want to post your favourite recipe in a comment, be my guest. If not, just drop by and say hello.

Cheers!

Note: The party will be closed on October 9, at midnight, sharp. However, to avoid the same mishap that occurred last year, there will be a separate post for each day until the 9th. We will count all pages and comments together when the party is closed.

Join us and have fun! Feel free to start any thread, any topic you want; we can discuss it, mock the general stupidity of life and laugh at it. I tentatively started two topics, just to begin the fun somehow, but you may add anything you want.

I'm well, thank you. Healthy, at least, and writing is going a bit better at the moment. The new educational reform knocked us all out, though, and if I could retire now, I'd do it in a moment. Alas, it's not a possibility, so I§'m trying to make the best of it. Still it isn't easy if you got swamped with inane amounts of unnecessary work at an age when your strenth is no longer what it used to be. *sighs*

Well, at least I still do have a job, which is a good thing in these days.

I'm glad you are well, and still gainfully employed. Unnecessary work is a pain at any age, I think.

We're still sorting through the house-full of my parents' belongings, tho' a little progress was made over the past couple of days -- we now have a new bookcase courtesy of them in the sitting room (rather than blocking the front door*), and we're starting to amalgamate the cd collections of Mr EA, me, my mother, my father & my brother to fill it.

*Sadly the front door is still blocked by a chest of drawers which we're treating against moths. I communicate with people who come to the door through the window. I think the courier people who visit think I'm a batty old lady... (they might be right).

Do you leave the house through the window as well? *g*

Luckily there's a back door too, though two of the cats do mainly use that window (why is unclear, as the back door has a cat flap, which doesn't require a human to open it for them).

They obviously want to give you some occupation therapy. ;)

That's obviously it. It would explain why if one tries to feed one upstairs it mysteriously disappears & starts asking for food downstairs...

It's sometimes unclear to me just why we decided having three cats would be a good idea! And the brief interlude with four was hellish. But at the moment I've got the most obstreperous one fast asleep on the sofa beside my chair, so all is forgiven.
