Hi folks! *waves" I know I'm late kicking off my virtual birthday party of 2013, but considering that I worked almost 11 hours today, I think I can be forgiven, right?

It's that time of a year again - I'm getting older. In this case, I'm turning 57 on October 9, so let's party!

Last years virtual birthday party yielded 1328 comments on 6 pages, before LJ crashed the whole thing, and 617 additional ones on 3 pages at the second coming. Which won't be easy to top, but we're good, aren't we? WE CAN DO IT! WE CAN BREAK THE 2000-COMMENT-BARRIER! Let's give it a try! In the recent years, it has always been great fun, so let's have fun again!

You're all cordially invited to help yourself to a slice of virtual cake of your choice. If you want to post your favourite recipe in a comment, be my guest. If not, just drop by and say hello.

Cheers!

Note: The party will be closed on October 9, at midnight, sharp. However, to avoid the same mishap that occurred last year, there will be a separate post for each day until the 9th. We will count all pages and comments together when the party is closed.

Join us and have fun! Feel free to start any thread, any topic you want; we can discuss it, mock the general stupidity of life and laugh at it. I tentatively started two topics, just to begin the fun somehow, but you may add anything you want.

I've been watching a lot of Once Upon A Time lately, though it's one of these Your Mileage May Vary shows. Nothing else has caught my interest lately, sadly.

Another discovery has been Welcome to Night Vale, a podcast.

What is a podcast?

I was eyeing Once Upon a Time on German TV, but I didn't feel up to the challenge. Did you like it?

Yeah, I like it. The second season should be airing sometime later this year or next one. Many say that the first season was better, but I guess it could give you an impression whether it's worth trying - to truly follow the plot you have to watch them in order, the entire show is one interconnected story, jumping back and forth in time. Yes, it's just as much of a headache to follow as it sounds, but if you enjoy it absolutely worth it. But it's really a YMMV thing since they change things around *very* much from the fairy tales.

A podcast is an audio online show, could be a radio program, an audio book or something like that. Welcome to Night Vale is a free online "audio book", in the form of a fictional radio show reporting about the going-ons in an equally fictional small town, said Night Vale. It's sci-fi/horror with a quirky, often morbid sense of humor. This is the homepage and to listen to the episodes you go here and click "play now"

What have you been watching lately?

Reruns of Star Trek on Tele 5 - I even lowered myself to "Enterprise" for the lack of anything else. Miss Marple, The Murdoch Mysteries, I gave a chance to Under the Dome but found it boring.

Ha, i must be one of few trek fans who actually liked Enterprise.

I've started watching ER from the beginning, as well as watching new ep. of Bones,Criminal Minds, and CSI.
