[livejournal.com profile] picowrimo is over once again, and for the first time since I've joined, I'm actually glad it is.

This pico season took a lot out of me. I couldn't focus on one, maximum two stories; was hopping back and forth between five or six different ones like multiple personality disorder become flesh. A lot of what I wrote in those two months was mediocre at best, but I couldn't care because I wanted to get whatever part I was working on so very badly out of my head.

The abysmal heat didn't help, of course, but it was just an additional factor. Between making the daily posts for July and my two enthusiastic guys (one of whom could be my grandson) bombarding me with ideas - intriguing ones, I may add - I think I simply had to switch between stories and fandoms to avoid total burnout in either one.

Holidays are never easy writing-wise. They give me the time to do some undisturbed writing and researching, but they also put a great deal of stress on me to use that time well. Guilt issues arise when I don't, and I'm just so very tired. And the plotbunnies keep breeding like crazy. I never get the chance to actually finish one thing before starting half a dozen new ones during the process. It's not that I want to, you see - it's just the way my crazed mind works. And I'm an old hag already and will never live long enough to finish all the things I've begun, not to mention the ones that still only exist in my head.

Okay, that was disgustingly whiny. Shutting up now.

My friend, you are like a kid in a candyshop when it comes to writing! After years of watching you post, I am still amazed at how you can write with so much depth in so many universes at the same time and keep all those details straight. You're incredible!

That's very kind of you to say. Unfortunately, I've got the nagging feeling that it's the true depth my writing might have lacked recently. I've been dragging myself through a lot of things by sheer willpower, but that's not the same as being truly inspired, I'm afraid.

*hugs*

Hope you feel better soon. I am also really impressed by the way you manage to write so many fandoms at the same time and all the stories fit with their canon.

Believe me, I'm not doing this by choice. Apparently, it's the only way to work with my sometimes whacky attention span.

BTW, is it okay if I contact you privately later about posting to AO3? I may have some questions...
