As we've got autumn break, Mum and I decided to go to Vienna for a couple of days. We wanted to spend three days, but the B&B where we usually stay didn't have room for tonight, so tomorrow and the day after it is. Still better than a one-day-trip, I'd say.

Weather forecast is actually promising: 4-5°C for tomorrow, 8-9°C for the day after, cloudy but hopefully no rain or snow. I'm so looking forward to go - Vienna is the place I never go tired of.

Since we're staying two days, we plan to go to the Marzipan Museum of Demel, as it's in the city and we won't have to look for it long. Also, I intend to buy a few ingredients for the annual baking orgy before Christmas; ingredients I either don't get here or only outrageously expensively.

And perhaps, just perhaps, some DVDs. I stillh aven't watched half of those I'd bought in Hamburg, but having someting to look forward to is always good. Sadly, I seriously doubt that they'd have any Classic!Who, but perhaps I'll give that new series with Amanda Tapping a try ("Sanctuary" it's called, if I'm not mistaken).

In any case, it's very exciting to go to Vienna again. And as school won't restart until next Monday, I'll have 4 more days to recover. *g*

Vienna always is. :) Plus, it's only 3 hours away by train - some people in larger countries travel that much to go to work.

I'm an enormous fan of marzipan, as well as chocolate. Sigh.

Next time you come to Budapest, I'll have to take you to the Marzipan Museum in Szentendre, then. It's ten times bigger and a hundred times more interesting than the one in Vienna.

I find the problem with marzipan museums is that they model things with the stuff, rather than eating it. I went through a phase when I ate it by the block (literally). I had to give up because it gave me headaches -- sugar overdose? cyanide poisoning?

I haven't seen the one in Vienna yet myself. The one near Budapest is a hilarious place, though. Imagine Princess Diana and Michael Jackson as life-sized marzipan figures! *g*

Lol! I imagine the marzipan is treated in some way to prevent people nibbling bits off the exhibits! ;)

I love marzipan, but mum hates it.

Mum and I both hate it, but we both like looking at marzipan figures, so it's a delight without calories. ;)

Have fun! Sanctuary is a fun show, just a little cheesy at times with the special effects. But it gets better as it goes along and develops the characters more.

Well, I bought Season 1 and watched the first 2 episodes - not overly impressed so far. It's interesting to see Amanda Tapping with dark hair and Heyerdahl as the bad guy, but the whole premise seems a bit forced and way too preachy to me. Like the Dr. Zimmerman character, though, and it was fun to meet Kavan Smith again, but the concept is a bit wacky.

I couldn't understand why Amanda's blood would save the bad guy; I hope we'll find out eventually how she got so old without showing it.

Things are explained later. I do think it takes a while to get good but I was eventually hooked on it and disappointed when it ended after four seasons. There are a lot of SG:A actors who appear in later episodes and sometimes it's fun to spot them even in small roles.

You are right, it grows on you the more you watch it, although it's still a bit ridiculous. I've got as far as to the Nubbins by now and still can't really take it seriously, but that's probably part of the fun. And yeah, I enjoy spotting SGA actors from time to time.
