Party pooper LJ!

wiseheartWell, folks, it seems that LJ has decided to crash our birthday party - the original post is no longer visible. But I still have most of the comments in my inbox, and will re-post the original entry and list the available comments with the simple mentioning of the names, if it's all right with you. If not, tell me, and I'll delete yours.

Hi folks! *waves*
Time is flying by, isn't it? It's that time of a year again - I'm getting older. In this case, I'm turning 56 on October 9, which means I'd have been retired for a year already, back under the old regime. Women could retire at the age of 55 back then. So I've decided to ignore all that fantastic headway we've supposedly made towards democracy in the last two decades and have considered myself retired for the last year, blithley overlooking the fact that I'll have to work another 6 or 7 or only God knows how many years.
So, let's party! Last years virtual birthday party yielded 943 comments on 7 pages, which won't be easy to top, but we're good, aren't we? WE CAN DO IT! WE CAN BREAK THE 1000-COMMENT-BARRIER! So, let's give it a try! In the recent years, it has always been great fun, so let's have fun again!
You're all cordially invited to help yourself to a slice of virtual cake of your choice. If you want to post your favourite recipe in a comment, be my guest. If not, just drop by and say hello.

am back home there are 693! That is more than 100 comments in a day, and
there is still the evening to come. This is one happening party!

It just occurred to me: what did you wanted to become when you're all
grown up? Well, obviously, I wanted to become a nun. I even succeeded for
a very short time. (I tried to insert the visual proof, but apparently, I
can't add a pic from my PC directly.) Anyway, it wasn't meant to be and
it was over in little more than two years.
What about you? What did you want to become, and have you succeeded? If
yes (or not), was that a good thing or a bad thing?

Thinking of this because I've recently returned to my choir, after a year
of hiatus. Despite my misgivings os some choices re: what we should singm
I missed singing too much. Otherwise, I don't do music actively much. As
a child, I used to play the piano (well, I made lame attempts to do it)
and learned to play the Blockflöte and the guitar a bit. Neither led to
much.
So, who else sings in a choir or plays (played) an instrument?

in physically, as the dough of the two yummies - Ischler Cookies and
Vanilla-Almond crescents, respectively - are cooling in the fridge and
would be baked tonight.
BTW, I tried to google for the recipes, but they're all stupid. They say
you don't have to cool the dough - well, don't believe them. You must.
