Okay, we got sorted out the missing teaching hours. It seems that our boss has re-vamped the afternoon shift, meaning that ll those who work in the afternoon have to stay to 16.45 instead of 16.00. Which means that instead of 5 missing hours I get 1 hour overtime. They won't likely pay for that, they don't have the money (all schools got a 3 per cent budget cut, without warning - how lovely!), but at least I don't have to worry. (Not getting the hours means they're planning to get rid of you, so not good!)

So, I'll have to stay longer at school on 3 days each week, but it also means that I only have to work in the afternoon shift 3 days each week, instead of 4 days of Week A and 3 days on Week B, as it was the rule last term. And I only have 2 lessons on Tuesdays and 3 lessons on Fridays. All in all, not bad, not bad at all. How exhausting the longer afternoon shifts will prove that's a question I can't answer just yet - we'll see. For the time being, I'm relieved.

In other news, I finished Chapter 6 of "Atonement" and started Chapter 7. I made some moderate progress with Elfhelm, too; less than 2 pages, but progress nonetheless. I'll have to see how I can work around the new working schedule. Summer had me incredibly spoiled writing-wise. *sighs*

Well, considering the current state of the job market in this country (which is below miserable), I'm insanely happy to still have a job. At least for this year. Before our self-worshipping government screws up what little is still halfways functioning. *sighs*

Good to hear you got that sorted out! Also, let's hope this means you'll get some nice free time on Tuesdays and Fridays.

I hope for Tuesdays. Usually, when I only have a few lessons on Fridays, every extra event falls on that day. *g*

Yep, I'm greatly relieved. Another year won, for the next one I'll start worrying in 2013.

In this climate, I'd take an hour unpaid overtime over risk of redundancy any day. And fewer afternoon shifts sounds like good news. I do hope that you can continue writing round the teaching, once everything settles down.

So do I. According to the newest schedule, I won't have the one hour unpaid overtime, after all, but these things usually keep changing during September. We've got almost 700 kids in 25 classes this year, so creating a working schedule isn't an easy thing. Not with only one gym and no money to improve the infrastructure.

I'm glad to hear the schedule worked out to your relief!
Your prezzies should be in the post this weekend, if no crises arise. I'll send a private note when I've mailed them.

You're too generous for your own good, but I thank you anyway. *hugs*
