Quite literally so. Probably from bursting a small blood vessel due to rubbing the eye so hard. Of course, it just had to happen in Friday night, when everything dies for the weekend. I know it's probably no big deal, but I'm still scared shitless.

Tomorrow morning will phone to colleague with doctor husband and ask what to do (if indeed anything has to be done) and where to go during the weekend. Drat, and we both have hoped for a little peace and quiet. *sigh*

Thank you. I hope it's not serious. Colleague with the doctor hubby said to stop giving her eardrops over the weekend, and on Monday we'll try to hunt down her doctor. *sighs*

It happened to my Mum too and got better of its own accord within a week or so. Hugs

Thanks. I hope the same will happen here, too, but I'm still scared. With people her age everything is more risky than with younger ones.

Oh dear! I think that happened to my grandmother once. It probably looks more scary than it is, so try not to worry too much.

i don't know if there's an equivalent in Hungary, but some hospitals in the UK have clinics specifically for treating minor injuries. They're like emergency wards, but for less dangerous things. You can go without an appointment. Have you tried a net search for local hospital facilities?

I hope your mum is better soon!

So do I, thanks. It doesn't cause her any problems, she just feels as if her eye were full of that stuff you get in your eyes after sleep (I have no idea what it's called in English, sorry). We only spotted the problem because I was giving her the eyedrops she needs twice a day, so we aren't even sure when it happened.

Yep, we have such emergency places, but they're overcrowded all the time, and we were advised to give the eye a couple of days to heal anyway. We stopped the eyedrops for the weekend, and on Modnay we'll try to track down her doctor.

But it is a frigging scary sight. Even though I've had the same problem once, when I was young.

That happened to me a year or so back. It looked scary (literally half the eye was red), but wasn't painful and didn't affect my vision. I went to an optician and was told it was harmless, probably indicated high blood pressure and had probably happened when I leaned over something with my head low, rather than by rubbing my eyes. It went away on its own in about a week. The optician said that if it happened repeatedly I could get the blood vessel cauterised by a hospital, but he didn't recommend it unless I found it a significant problem.

Hope you can get someone to look at your mother's eye soon, but hopefully it will prove similarly benign.

I hope so, too. Tomorrow we'll try to hunt down her doctor, and then we'll see.

Thaks for the encouragement.

That it is, indeed. More so that it's the eye she has some problems with.

Thanks. The eye is clearing up a bit already, so we're cautiously optimistic.
