Let's start chronologically. I got up in the morning and went to work - only to find school closed and no cars of my colleagues standing in front of it. After the third phone call, one of them finally picked up, and I learned that school won't start until tomorrow. Apparently, the fact was known for about a fortnight by now and I was the only one who didn't hear about it. Well, as annoying as it is that I went there in vain, having one more free day isn't bad. Fortunately, I live close to my workplace, so I didn't lose too much of the unexpected free time.

Checking my e-mail, I found a notification from LJ that some anonymous benefactor had gifted another year's worth of paid accoutn and extra userpics upon me. My heartfelt gratitude! I'm very fond of my userpics and my Scrapbook files. I wish I could find a way to deal with the financial part from here - there must be one, I'm just too stupid to find it - but until then, I'm truly thankful for the help.

Shortly thereafter shinies arrived, sent by the most generous [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller: a herbal and some music by Hildegard of Bingen. As a hobby medievalist, I was most pleased - thank you, my friend. :)

And I even got 3 positive reviews on SoA for "Elvenhome", which is more than the sum total of Tolkienfic reviews for the last, oh, six months, so if the new year keeps going on like this, I'll be reconciled with life. ;)

I'd be so annoyed! Admittedly, you still had the day, but to "gear up" all for nothing - grrr!

Still better than the other way round, though. ;)

Woot, congrats! Unexpected days off are always nice. Although it's a crappy move of your colleagues or director or whoever messed up that you weren't told ahead of time. But oh well... better a nice surprise than a bad one!

My thoughts exactly. This gives me the chance to type up waht I wrote last night, perhaps even to finish and post the next chapter of "Elvenhome" - what more could I ask for?

Well, an actually working satellite dish would be nice, too, but let's not be greedy.

Yay for good things!
Very annoying that they didn't tell you about the school being closed!

Oh, well, at least my colleagues and I had something to laugh about on the phone. :)

It is partially my fault, too - I should check the school's website more frequently. I just don't have the nerve to it and find it silly, since they could tell things right into our face...

*nods* Telling people is much more sensible that assuming that they'll check - but I suppose they think the extra bother for them is worth it.

At least it was a good suprise. :)
