So I got my act together and finally tried out one of the recepies I intend to bake with the 6th-term-kids. It's peanut-chocolate cookies. Or, at least, I think the things are called peanuts in English. They're those lengthy pods with two nuts in each that aren't walnuts or hazelnuts or almonds or any of the more exotic kind. Over here, they're called earth-nuts or American nuts.

So, whatever the correct name of the nuts is, the cookies turned out terrific. It doesn't happen every day that by the time the second thin is baked, Mum and I would have gobbled up the first tin of cookies entirely. Yum!

I also baked apple muffins today, but that's nothing new. However, since all peanut (?) cookies were gone by coffee time, we needed something for tomorrow. You can't have coffee without cookies on Sunday, right?

For my financial status, all kinds of nuts are ridiculously expensive over here, too. But there's only one Christmas each year, so... Besides, baking lots of different cookies solves the problem what kind of presents to give to friends and family. They will all get a selected sortiment of cookies on a pretty paper or plastic plate and that's it. They'll be happy, I'll have my baking fun - everyone is content. ;)

I think it's a great way to make gifts. The advantage is that you get a little bit of each cookie whereas you'd otherwise never be able to eat a whole batch so couldn't have the same variety. Heh. I planted the thought in my little sis' head and now she might bake when she comes home for Xmas.

That is the hidden agenda, yes. Plus the fact that I really enjoy baking. It relaxes me like nothing else, not even reading, even though I have to do the actual work.

Perhaps your sister and I can compare recepies. :) I posted a batch of them last year.
