Notes: Sahagin, nicknamed the Sea-hag, is an oceanologist by trade – the only one who still dares to explore the planet’s vast seas.

WINDSWEPT – SAHAGIN

She rose from the dark waves like Aphrodite reborn in a nightmarish fashion, standing with legs slightly apart to keep her balance on the Kraken’s slippery head. The tentacles of the huge creature – thicker than her waist where they sprouted from the monstrous body yet thin like her finger near their tip – coiled around her in the water the same way her long, curly tresses coiled around her scaly shoulders. Through her bare, webbed feet she could feel the slow pulsing of life in the Kraken’s body; a pulse that started right between the bulbous eyes and rolled down to the tip of each tentacle. It was… mesmerising.

But it was nothing compared with the experience of feeling the creature’s thoughts. They were strange and bewildering and utterly alien, filled with images she couldn’t interpret. As much as she loved the ocean – enough to have a pair of gills implanted and undergo genetic changes in order to develop scales and webbing on hands and feet – she was not of the ocean. Deep in her heart she was, and will always remain, a human being. Even if her fellow humans might have difficulties to see it.

She wondered sometimes why the dwellers of the ocean had accepted her. As far as she knew – as far as anybody knew – that had never happened before. Never in five thousand-and-some years.

That description certainly pulled me right it! She would be an Earth-child because of the genetic mixing, right?

That's correct, she is one - and a rather headstrong one, even as Earth-children go. :)

Thank you. :) I'm enjoying myself greatly while writing these disjointed parts.

Oh, she sounds quite intriguing! So do the Kranken, actually.

Sadly, the Kraken haven't really been fleshed out yet. But I'm working on them. I assume Sahagin should find a way to communicate with the hostile creatures of the ocean, but that needs a lot of thinking yet.

Yeah, I suppose it would! Maybe something to consider later once you've figured out more about the Kraken themselves and the marine wildlife in general?

That's the plan, yes. No need to force anything that doesn't happen nautrally.
