I've already posted my thoughts a couple of entries ago, but I was wondering, has anyone else watched it? Did you like it? Did you hate it? Why?

I saw the first episode (or possibly the first few, I don't remember precisely). My main thought was that there was far too much sex, fighting, blood. The characters didn't seem particularly interesting - I liked the idea of there having been vampires etc and them stopping hiding, but to be honest they didn't seem to be doing much interesting with it.
I think I still have most of the first season recorded, but so far haven't got round to watching it - and given how many tv shows there are, I probably won't end up watching more of it, unless Sam wants to.

They advertise it as an adult series, after all that slimy "Twilight" stuff, but to be perfectly honest, the mere presence of sex doesn't make a series suitable for an adult audience. And, as you said yourself, the characters are deadly boring. I might give the second episode a try, since the first one would be the introduction part - perhaps something will happen later, but I'm afraid it won't be much.

Very true - more it makes teenagers want to watch it! And that really seems to be the audience the show is aimed at.

I honestly tried to watch the 2nd episode today but didn't get any further than the first commercial break. God, all those cardboard vampire caricatures made me fall asleep. And a totally gratutious sex scene in every five minutes was deadly boring, too. So did people needing to get half-naked (or completely naked) without a plausible reason.

I haven't watched it, but since several of my fandom friends are fans, it's on my to-watch list. Which is huge, of course, so it's been on there for a year already.

Well, frankly, I find it boring to the death. But I found "Vampire Diaries" boring, too, so perhaps I'm not the right person to ask.

I've been spoiled rotten by "Kindred: The Embraced" and "Forever Knight", I guess. I liked the first three seasons of "Buffy", and parts of Season Five, but not even those came close to the classics. And "Angel" turned just plain ridiculous after mid-Season Two. And depressing like hell. I don't watch things without at least a spark of hope. Real Life is depressing enough.

Yeah, I'll just have to wait and see.

It's funny that I have never seen Forever Knight (nor K:tE, but at least I got exposed to that second-hand), yet more to put on my to-watch list. It just keeps growing *laughs*

"Forever Knight" is very, very dark - but in a good way. It's adult, without all that gratutious, pretentious sex that seems to be sold under the title adult in these days. It's a very intelligent show, with flashbacks to Nick Knight's 800-year-long past; and it has fairly ambigious characters, too. I think you'd love it.

"Kindred: The Embraced" is, in some ways, the exact opposite. It has its dark side, too, but I love the glimpses of vampire culture we get in it.

"Blade the TV-series" is fairly good in this aspect as well. I found the stuff about the vampire Houses and born vampires versus turned vampires intriguing. Too bad they've chosen such a horrible "actor" to play the title role - I was firing on the supposedly bad guys all the time. Of course, the fact that it had pretty boys in the enemy camp (Kavan Smith aka Lorne and Steve Bacic aka Rhade in recurring characters) didn't hurt.

Yes, I liked the world building in Blade as well. It's a nice change from the movies, which had very little world building. I couldn't really warm up to it, though, since I didn't find the characters particularly interesting.

I liked some of the characters a great deal. Just not the lead ones. The female lead, whose name I've forgotten, was wooden, and "Sticky" Jones, who played Blade, was so unlikeable, I always fired on the bad vamps.

No TV, not really interested in vampires. Saw a bit of one episode (I think it was this show) while on travel and thought it was visually dark, dramatically moody and not something I wished I could see more of at home. Meh...

Yeah, too bad, I'd have liked a new vampire story that would catch my interest. The last one I vaugely liked was "Blood Ties", and before that I gave the TV-series version of "Blade" a try. That one would have been interesting, with all those vampire Houses and stuff, but the main hero was so unlikeable that I only watched the occasional episode.

This is my BFF's favorite show. I didn't make it through one episode. LIke you, I found it tedious and very slow paced.

I gave it another try today. Got as far as the first commercial break - then I gave up, bored out of my head. The supposedly "good" head vampire, Bill the Pony particularly caused me to fall asleep.

I watch it and I like it over all. I sometimes feel like the violence and sex are too over the top and even boring at times. But I like a lot of the characters to varying degrees. I do think it gets better as it goes along.

For example, there's an episode in the first season where Sookie's grandmother invites Bill to speak to her history group about the Civil War since he was there in person. That's the kind of thing I like to see in a show where vampires have been revealed to be real. Too bad moments like that don't happen as often as they should on the show.

As I said, I'll give it another try tomorrow. But I don't have high hopes about it. "Forever Knight" did that historic stuff so well, I seriously doubt that they can top that.
