Since we've finished decorating the cookies last night (literally), Mum and I decided to go to the Christmas market today. It's the same one [livejournal.com profile] espresso_addict, Mr. EA and I went almost exactly a year ago. It was freezing cold, but the market was so crowded you could barely make any headway. At least it lessened the freezing factor a bit.

Stuff was outrageously expensive, too, but we drank mulled wine and ate chimney cake nonetheless. Chimney cake is the food of the gods - scroll down the Wikipedia page and click on the link to YouTube to see how it's made.* Alas, we can't make it at home, so we have to buy it whenever we can - which, disregarding what Wikipedia states, isn't such a frequent occasion. So we bought it today, regardless of the horrid price.

Mum and I are a bit odd when it comes to money. We're very careful with it, usually buy stuff when it's on sale, because, frankly, we don't have so much of it, and we need to turn around the coin so that we'd be able to go on holiday in the summer. But sometimes we spontaneously decide that we need a treat, and then we treat ourselves, no matter what it cost. Like today. We froze solid, but we had great fun, and we didn't regret the trip - even though next Sunday we're going on another trip, this time to the Christmas market in Vienna, with five of my colleagues. I hope the weather will coopearate - the Christmas markets of Vienna are beautiful, too.

Good luck and much fun for the trip to Vienna! I agree with spending on Christmas Markets - I have been careful about spending money, too, this year, but yesterday I could not resist and left a good hundred Euro at two different Christmas Markets. My excuse is that I bought all my Christmas presents, there, so... Gluehwein is the thing that is irresistible to me, but ONLY at Vhristmas markets. I never drink it under other circumstances. And all those lights, and the happy mood, and the sweet nonsense people are selling which you KNOW you never need but still cannot resist buying... Oh, well. ;DDD

At least, it's only lasting four weeks in the year.

Very true about Glühwein - I actually never drink vine, in whatever condition, as it causes me stomach-ache... only on the Christmas Market.

We didn't actually buy anything aside from the wine and the chimney cake, but it was beautiful nonetheless.
