Havent done that for a while, which is mostly because [livejournal.com profile] altariel and [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris, lovely and generous ladies as they are, have spoiled me so rotten that I had to catch up with the stuff they gifted upon me before the greed hit again. ;)

But you know me and my book-case of doom that extends into the fifth dimension to make room for more stuff (actually, by throwing out videotapes of series I bought on DVD in the meantime, but that's another matter entirely; what counts is the fact that I have some space to fill up again).

So, let's get started with the books.
It's a random selection of various interests, without any practicular order.

Entanglement by Martha Wells
It's a Stargate: Atlantis novel, and the excerpts look very interesting. I already own "Reliquiary" by the same author, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller, so I have great trust in the author. She uses many of the much-neglected supporting characters, like Dr. Kavanagh or Dr. Kusanagi, and her writing style is excellent.

Yoshitsune by Helen C Mccullough
A companion piece of the "Tale of the Heike", translated by the same author, which I recently got from my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris. Unfortunately, it's an older edition, Amazon is out of it, but I'm known to happily accept second-hand books, as long as they're resonably clean and still in one piece. ;)

Alien Nation 1: The Day of Descent by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens. These two arent the greatest writers plot-wise, but they do the best world-building ever in their tie-in novels.

Still looking for the Star Trek background books listed in this entry.

Visual media - which, basically, means DVDs in these days. Gotta get the stuff as long as it's available. Don't have the money to switch to BluRay.

Basically, the objects of my greed can be ordered in three categories:

Fantasy and/or historical fantasy
MERLIN, series 3 - could there be any doubt about that? *g*

Excalibur - the 1981 fantsy film, featuring Nigel Terry, preferably the R-rated version. I'm old enough to watch it, and I don't like my movies butchered by the censor.

A Knight's Tale - the 2001 movie, featuring Rufus Sewell. Okay, he isn't the main hero (in fact, he is the actual baddie), but he's the main reason I want the movie.

Sci-fi classics - because you just can't beat them.

Alien Nation - the whole series (it only lasted one season, after all), plus the TV-movies. It has the most interesting aliens, ever. Hey, it's a series where Mpreg is canon, what else could we want?

Where old sci-fi classics are considered, I'm looking for "Forbidden Planet", "Enemy Mine" and the original version of "The Earth Stood Still". I've recently bought the new version with Keanu Reeves, and it's interesting, but now I'd be even more interested in the original one.

Horror series
Poltergeist - The Legacy... any part of it. I only have ages-old taped episodes in German, and very few of them, too. I'd like the original, especially the episodes with Pater philip Callaghan, who prominently features in my "Pathwaysˇuniverse. But I'm generally fond of "Derek De Lindt, and many of the characters appear in "Pathways", even the recurring ones, so yeah, whatever season/episode I'd get, it'd make me very happy.

Blade - not the movies with Wesley Snipes but the TV-series. I despise the actor who plays Blade in that, but the world-building is amazing, and many of the main/recurring characters are highly interesting.

So, I think I've got my shopping list for the next decade or so. *g* Now if I could only visit Vienna a bit more frequently...

Thanks for the updates. I'll keep an eye out when The Beloved and I venture to the bookstore.

I hope you got my e-mail, but in case you haven't - please, don't waste a cent on anything Dr. Who- or Torchwood-related stuff. The current development (or should I say deteriorating) of the franchise made me turn my back on both series.

Long live fanfic!

I don't. You might want to check with [livejournal.com profile] lhun_dweller, though, so that I don't end up with two copies - that would be a waste. You can PM her and put my name in the subject line; she won't mind.
