Our old doc has died today. *is sad*

We knew it was only a matter of time, but somehow I still hoped he might pull himself together one last time. On Sunday, he looked reasonably well. :(

The end of a long friendship that lasted thirty-two years and enclosed three generations. The end of an era, in some way.

I'm so sorry for the loss you and Mum have suffered. 32 years is a long time -- and it encompasses some remarkable times in both world history and local history. [offers a big hug]

And the old doc witnessed half a century of said local history and had great stories about it. With him, a good chunk of that history will be gone, irrevocably, as there's probably nobody else who still remembers the times when in the place of these big blocks of flats we live in an independent settlement of Saxon carpenters and gardeners used to live.
