Our old doc has died today. *is sad*

We knew it was only a matter of time, but somehow I still hoped he might pull himself together one last time. On Sunday, he looked reasonably well. :(

The end of a long friendship that lasted thirty-two years and enclosed three generations. The end of an era, in some way.

It happened gradually. We haven't actually realized, either. Both his sons live outside the capitol, so he was alone a lot, and we lived in the next street, so...

It was always fun with him. He was doctor in this area for so long, knew the whole history of the district, had interesting stories to tell.

That he was: a very kind man, with a wonderful sense of humour. I swear, his personality helped the old people more than any medicine he subscribed could have.

There are far too few such people in the world, it's always such a shame to lose one. I bet many of his former patients will miss him!
