Mum's had her regular blood test (for control purposes) two days ago. Poor thing was fretting like crazy about them, which is understandable. Fortunately, everything's in the green area, as the Germans would say. I have no idea what the English equivalent is, sorry.

School's been going on for 4 days by now, and it's already drying up my creative juices. *sighs* Imagine what'll happen when the kids come, too, and I'll have to spend ungodly hours at school again. *sighs again*

But it pays the bills, and I ought to be grateful that they're still keeping me, old hag as I am. It's just so that I'm actually starting to feel my age.

I think the English equivalent would be "everything's in the clear." My workplace has been so busy for the past three months that I'm actually looking forward to winter when business will slow down and I usually hate winter. I'm barely finding any time to write which is depressing because I want to write but I'm so tired all the time that it's hard to do. I'm hoping that things will slow down before winter but I'm glad to have a job and the larger paychecks help make up for it...somewhat.

Yeah, I know the feeling. There are days when I can only leave home for work if I stand in front of the mirror for a while and tell myself repeatedly: It pays the bills... it pays the bills... it pays the bills...

The sad thing is, I used to like my profession a great deal. But all that nastiness in the last decade or so, from various sides (i.e.: bosses, students, parents, etc.) has all but killed my joy in it. *sighs* That or I'm simply getting too old.

Oh, and happy belated birthday. I've been planning to send you my best wishes for weeks, pushed it before me from day to day... until I forget about it. I'm really ashamed. *is beet red*

It's okay. I enjoy birthday wishes but they're not required. But thanks for the belated best wishes. I like my job but working ten to eleven hours every week-day and half-days every Saturday is really wearing me out. I keep telling myself it's got to end some time but so far there's no end in sight. Sigh.

Ich will doch stark hoffen!

Good to hear that your mother's tests were fine; waiting for the results is absolutely horrid! Please give her my best. :-)

>>it pays the bills<<
Yeah. But it comes at a high price at times, doesn't it? *hugs*

Yep, that's very true. *hugs back*

Glad to hear about you again. I was beginning to worry that I scared you away. ;)

Scared me away? No way!! It'd be more likely to be the other way round. ;-)

I'm afraid I'm just not much online anymore; have tried to 'get back in the saddle', but it's not working. Lately, I only comment little and mostly on the LJs of my best friends, ie you and two-three others.

Finally weekend! Are you enjoying the peace and quiet?

Sorry for the late answer - the kids aren't even there yet, and school's already being insane. It leaves me no time for my social cyberlife!

Do you know anything new from the MEFAs?

*cringes* It's embarassing, but I haven't had a look at the MEFAs since mid-July...

I'll get to it, promise!!!

I'm delighted to hear Mum's test results were good. Jen is right: something like "All clear" would be colloquial. "Everything is normal" would be typical medical English. Please give her my best wishes!

I'm sorry Teh Ebol Skuul is draining your energy already. I, too, am grateful they keep you on: you want to be able to retire when it suits you, financially and personally. I suspect your experience and skill are valuable to them, even if they don't have the decency to acknowledge it.
