So, let's celebrate! We won the second round with the Snow White parody, and got second place with the "Cat" story. Up to the grand gala on March 5. There won't be any more prizes to win, but a lot more theatre productions to see, so it ought to be fun. And both of our plays are invited! Yay!

Also, I got specifically recommened for the language of the Snow White parody, using modern language and the really spoken speech patterns in the play. *is proud*

Congratulations! \o/ *cheers and applause* Have some chocolate to celebrate! I am pleased to hear you got recognition for your efforts, especially since it seems this is rare in your every day work life. Hope you and the kids have great fun at the grand gala.

Rare indeed! But it makes me appreciate the stellar occasion when it happens all the more.

Thanks for the chocolate. :)

There should always be chocolate!

I meant to ask you if you had had any luck getting the episodes of Doctor Who you were interested in. I have season one (of the new series, the one with the Ninth Doctor) on CD's; if you are still looking would this be any use to you? (I used to have seasons two and three recorded off BBC's broadcasts, but I can't find them anywhere; I am forced to conclude that I must have thrown them out when I moved this autumn.)

No, I haven't, and I'd love to have them, but I'm not sure my DVD player would be able to play CDs.

Hmmm... it's a shame that you might have thrown up two full seasons - unless you wanted to, of course. Not so long ago, I've thrown out at least forty ancient videotapes, but those were in a really desolate state and would only ruin my VCR. *g*

I have played the CDs on my computer and that worked fine; I don't know what your computer might make of them, though. I would be happy to send them to you for you to try. Have a think about it and let me know.

I did go through a lot of stuff I had burnt to DVD's from recordings off the television and threw it out on account of having had it for ages and never watched it again. There were some issues with the Doctor Who episodes I recall, in that for some reason the television signal just decided to die -- giving me nothing but black-and-white static -- during a few of the episodes. I may have decided I should be getting the DVD box-sets anyway, so I wouldn't really need the recordings. Usually I don't throw something away in that case until after I have bought the new version (or similar) though I may have been in a get-rid-of-everything-that-isn't-strictly-necessary type of mood; I get those when I am moving.

That's really kind of you - the problem is, I can't really watch movies or whatnot on my computer screen, be it the laptop or the main PC. It doesn't agree with my eyes, and as they're relatively weak already, I shouldn't put more strain on them. :(

I know the great cleaning out attack when moving - I've had it a few times myself, giving away things I regretted afterwards. But, well, what's done is done, right?

Yes, looking after your eyes sounds wise; I find reading on a computer screen strains my eyes if I do it for too long, so I can sympathise with watching films or similar causing you problems. Fingers crossed for you finding the episodes of Doctor Who you are looking for somewhere else.
